Question 2014 F150 Advance Track (ABS, E-brake Light, Trac Light)

Hello,

I purchased a 2014 F-150 XLT. 5.0L, 4x4 truck used. It has 164K on the truck and I was stopped at a red light waiting to take a left turn. When the light turned green, I let off the brake and gently applied throttle and felt a slight jossle when the throttle was applied, and then I completed the left turn, I received the "SERVICE ADVANCETRACK" message and the "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" message. The instrument panel shows the ABS light, the (!)(P)BRAKE emergency brake light, and the yellow swervy traction control light (Note: It is not the same light as the Traction Control OFF light. That turns on and off when I press the Traction control system).

After the light came on, the truck operated normally, however, I'm assuming that the ABS and Traction Control systems will not function with this light on. I have not yet given the turn signals a shot nor checked the fuses, which I will do tomorrow morning. I should mention that I did hook up my scan tool after the SERVICE ADVANCETRACK came on and no DTC codes came up and the emission status remained green on my scan tool.

I still have a 30 day/1000 KM warranty and I'll be contacting the dealer. They did mention they changed the brakes when they received the vehicle. (It was a lease-return that was auctioned off, I'm assuming due to box damage from screws that was DIY-installed through the wooden box liner.)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

***Update***

I think my Scan tool is not updated for 2014 models.

The ABS scanner detected C1165, which is rear right passenger wheel speed sensor. I'll see if I can get that fixed under warranty.

Yeah, I'd just let the place you bought it from fix it.

Nice they gave you a warranty.

Update: Turned out to be a corroded wire and wheel speed sensor. Fixed under warranty.

I have a 2014 F150 that just gave me Advance Track, ABS & pretty much what happened to you.
I bought an ANSEL 2000 code reader witch gave me four codes:
C1440 Pressure difference between brake circuits.
C1963 Stability Control Inhibit warning ( Advance Track Disabled).
C116a Mismatch between ABS transducer & brake switch. ( If i push brake pedal down when starting vehicle no alarms. They all come on as soon as i release pressure on brake pedal)
B1596 Service Continuous memory DTCs ( Due to Fault codes).
What did they find wrong with your F150?

As far as I know, they told me it was a corroded wire, which they replaced. They replaced either the ABS sensor (Maybe the wheel sensor, I can't remember of the top of my head unless they happen to be the same thing), but I don't think it was necessary since it was the corroded wire.

2014 brake issue ABS,TRAC,HILL DESCENT

I'm having same issues. if depress brake pedal and start truck, no warning lights if release pedal advance track comes on. Upon acceleration brake light and ABS light come on. If I turn truck off and apply light pressure to pedal and drive all is good. I'm wondering if brake switch sends message to ABS when at rest.

Anyone have thoughts?

Hi Donald H

Can you plug in a scan tool into your truck and copy the DTC's and post them on here?

i just had the recall done on the master cylinder and when i got it back ABS,Hill Descent and Trac control on. if i hold brake pedal down and start the lights all go off. when i begin to release brake pedal you can hear a relay engage and soon after the traction control comes on. As soon as you begin to move the Brake light and ABS will come on. These will reset upon ignition cycle. i made a test drive with light brake pessure and had no faults. when releasing brake all come back on.

Codes: C116A-E0 ABS pressure transducer/mismatch
C1440-EO pressure difference transducer circuit fail
C1963-20 stability control inhibit warning
U0415-60 invalid data from ABS control module(TBC)

Had a similar thing yesterday, driving my 2014 F150 XLT 165,000k and the ABS, Brake and Stabilitrak lights came on, dry, level, smooth highway. Pulled codes B1596 and C1165. Bought a R/H wheel sensor on my way home and put it in. Could not reset the lights. Disconnected the battery, no good. Compared the resistance on the old and new sensor, different, but not an open circuit. Inspected the tone ring, dirty but not broken. Cleaned the ring, still no good. Decided to make a test lead out of my old sensor harness and plugged it in. Removed the ABS module from the pump and disconnected the plug. Found the brown and the red striped white wires and rang them out. Brown was fine, the red striped white one was open between the plugs. Spliced in a new wire from the ABS service loop to the rear plug service loop. Fixed! Took about a day including a run to the parts store for environmental splices and an E6 socket to remove the ABS module from the pump. I removed the air cleaner and coolant tank to get more room to work up front. To disconnect the rear plug, use a flat screwdriver to lift the red hook over the tab and push it up from the bottom, then lift the tab underneath that to disconnect the brown plug.

Your HCU is shot….. truck will run without issue however you have no ABS or traction control.. only way to disable errors without replacing is disconnecting smaller harness under the master cylinder… but it will lead to bigger problems.

HCU part alone is going for $1800 in Canada, and no aftermarket opions…. They will still charge almost $200 to “analyze and investigate and diagnose” as well… even if you give them the codes.

It was actually just a short in the wire. Brought it back to the dealership and he just soldered it back together. It's been going strong ever since.

Though now I have a front transfer case seal leak. That's a PITA to do.

Having the right tools makes it easier for transfer case job... I recommend for this job ratcheting combo wrenches, as regular ratchets fumbly as can be to get into the closer areas, some ratchet straps and a transmission jack.
