2010 5.4 ticking,Knocking.p0308

Started Ticking then knocking cleared up for minute. Than ran like f..en ****. P0308. But misses shakes spudders and wants to stall out on stops if I let it. Did plugs, Checked, and moved 8 to 1, 1 to 8 cops, for test switch. Ohm tested fuel injectors and wires in, out , cleaned MAF, throttle body, replaced cam sending units, oil change and gas in tank. WTF... IS LEFT... COMPRESSION test, pull valve covers for upper inspection ??? It will start then quickly start to miss and run like ****...

Did you switch fuel injectors?
You might want to watch this video.

Thanks Roadie. I didn't, haven't swaped, moved the fuel injectors yet but I'm planning to before I start pulling covers off. The video I've seen in my quest for answers. Im about over it and about to go old-school and Fab in my carburetord balanced & blue printed 351w from my trail truck .. 450+ hp. 351w, c6, and np205.the good old **** I Know how to work on.. I don't get much of a chance to go trailing anymore and I hate that it just sits in the barn collecting dust.

Sorry I've been a bit frustrated to say the least. So I jumped in the truck after several days,5. And turn the key and it fires right up. No real ticking, nocking noise. But u can still hear, feel something is missing. It sounds solid in the bottom end. It's not making any adnominal noises. Just slowly becomes apparent there is a miss. The longer it runs the worse it gets. The more times u try to start it while working on it. Swapping cops, or injectors, checking, replacing plugs, and wire connections. The longer it runs the worse it runs.

Have you done a compression test yet? Have you pulled the valve covers yet?

I picked up code reader when all this happened. At first it seemed things were getting worse. Went from cyl. 4&8 misfire to 1 3 4 8 misfire. After new plugs cleaning, moving cops. Only a cyl. 8 misfire code p0308. Cylinder 8 has gotten 3 new plugs. And moved cops from known good others each time. Moved injectors twice with no codes that changed. I'm only getting a p0308.. ??????

You might try flooring the gas pedal to put it in "clear flood" mode so it won't start and turn the engine on the starter. If there is a compression issue with one or more cylinders it won't turn the same speed. It will speed up and slow down on the starter. Might be better to pull the fuel pump fuse or relay to make sure it doesn't start.

No. I'm going to pick up a compression tester tonight. To see if I burned up a valve or something. I also found some small cracks in the exhaust manifolds about a mouth ago and thought was the ticking noise I was hearing. I was planning on putting new ones on before the end of the year.
The noise went away quickly after cold starting as it warmed up

So today I jumped in my truck started it and it ran the same is it has been. Bab missing sounds. But didn't seem to want to stall out as much. Still not driving it, just in the driveway from reverse to drive a few times. Starting it up and turning off couple times, about 2 minutes each time. To seeing what codes it would through out again. It's the first time I didn't get the p0308 code right away.. it finally sent out a different pending code p1336. But now still only the p0308 code comes up again.. ???.

Has anyone heard of applying straight 12 volts to a VTC solenoid inorder to get the inner shaft to move, reset if it's sticking and holding the cam phaser out of timing ??? And could, would it be causing misfires if it was stuck, sticking ???

Ok I'm kinda figuring out how, what will start my truck after the first start of the day in witch it starts right up. After that I have to give it WOT for it to start up quickly or it my take turning the key a couple times for it to start. Once started idle is rough but but at approx 2250+ RPMs it smoothes out and looses all missing noises. One thing iv noticed is the gas pedal DOESN'T RESPOND QUICKLY at all, there is a couple sec. Lag. Before it reacts to the pedal change. Thoughts about a possible cause ??? Anyone had something similar ???. I'm not getting any codes at this point...

If you have to floor it for it to start, it's flooded. I'd highly suspect leaky fuel injectors.
