Stubby Antenna

projectSHO89 - The "best" antenna isn't going to be a stubby antenna. Shortening the antenna reduces its efficiency which translates into reduced reception range.
And ... If you opt for a shorter (non-stubby) antenna you're more than likely going to experience wind-whistling at highway speeds. *Personal experience.

Yup! I have a shorter than stock antenna and the whistle is certainly there. I put the oem on when doing a roadtrip if i can remember. Otherwise i remember about 10 miles into the trip

I am running this one on my 2013 F-150 and like it. The 4" black version.
It still has ok reception on the stronger stations in my area. But I don't care about the loss. Hardly drive the truck, and I only wanted it to reduce damages from garage door. I would post a photo, but you know photobucket and wanting $400 for 3rd party sharing lol.
It's quality however is very nice. I had the ever famous one called "The Stubby" which was a cheap plastic one on my 2007, a car wash destroyed it.

My antenna hit when i pulled into the garage. I think i saw something on this site to fix the problem. What i did is measured the antenna to clear the garage door opening,i then cut the antenna and drilled out the ball and glued the ball back onto the antenna. I did that 13 years ago and no problems with reception. The ball is still solid today.
