Keys stuck in ignition.

I have a 2012 F150 and the keys wont come out of the ignition. It almost seems that the key wont go back far enough but if I unhook the battery I can remove the key. Also with key out and the battery hooked back up there is a dash light is on and the factory command start will not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question

Is the 3 Year / 36,000 Miles - Bumper / Bumper warranty still ineffect? Or do you have ESP?

If yes to either - time for dealership diagnostic/fix.

I've never heard of this before. So I too would go the dealership route and wish you luck. Perhaps you have another newer Ford and tried using that key to start it? I know with GM vehicles the Vats system goes nuts when another GM key attempts starting a vehicle.

Welcome to the forum, Evan B! I'd definitely recommend getting this in the hands of your dealership. Can you start the truck? If not, you can contact Roadside Assistance at 1-800-241-3673 to have it towed. How many miles are on it?

Thanks for the input. After a week of trying to rectify this problem I finally figured it out today. When I removed the cover on the center console there is a switch beside the shifter that I reset and everything is now working normally. This must be a very rare occurrence because the three ford mechanics that I talked to had never heard of this problem before.

I'm glad you go to the bottom of this, Evan B. If you need any help in the future, I'll be here.

Help?

I know this is a longshot, but can you elaborate on what switch it is? My truck is doing the same thing!
