Power mirror conversion

First off, just wanted to say hey and glad I found this forum lots of good stuff on here. Second, sorry for making a post, a first one at that, on this subject as Im sure its been discussed to death. Anyways, Ive looked but couldnt find anything on my current question. So when I bought my truck, a 2012 FX4 with appearance it came with the towing mirrors and tbh, never liked them. I finally got around to changing them to just the stock ones and man I wish I had done it earlier! So the original tow ones had everything except the power folding option and the new ones I got do have that option. My question is, if I get the switch and hook it up, does the factory wire harness come pre wired or do I need to run some wires. If I need to run some wires, no big deal just curious. Thanks in advance

Sean

The way mine are installed ,they can be folded and unfolded without the key on.2 wires have to be run between the mirrors from the drivers side to the passenger side. 1 wire from terminal 7 on one (passenger)mirror to terminal 7 on the other(driver)mirror, and 1 wire from terminal 16 on one (passenger)mirror to terminal 16 on the other(driver)mirror. On my mirror switch plug there was no wire on the #4 terminal, a wire needs to be run from the switch plug #4 terminal (or wire if present)to the #16 wire on the drivers side mirror. You will also need to run a wire from the #7 wire on the drivers side mirror to the # 6 terminal on the mirror switch. That should get the job done. ( There were no wires on the mirror plugs on either door at the #7 or the # 16 position, I jammed a wire in the plug from behind so that the pin on the mirror connector would make contact, you can silicone them or superglue them in place). ( if you don't have these wires present then you will have to drill a hole in each of the door jambs to run the wires from one side to the other)
