A/C seats

I have a 2013 FX4 with heated and air conditioned seats. When I turned them on when the weather got warmer neither seat got very cool and the seat backs did not at all. The the indicator lights on the control stays on and the fan blows like it's working. Anyone have any ideas so I can avoided the dealership?

Why avoid the dealership? Out of warranty?

No still under warranty, just don't want to sit there for hours if it's something simple.

Is your temperature turned all the way down? I believe they work off the same air temp coming out of your vents.

Mine are selectable with a touch screen input that has three settings. They seem to be somewhat independent of the climate setting.

I agree with glc - take it back to the dealer. You've actually paid for that warranty. Use it.

You don't have to sit there for hours if you make an appointment and leave it.

They're aren't actually cooled seats. They don't actually change the temperature any. They do move air which helps cool your body down. Think like a cool breeze outside.

The ones on my 2011 are cooled. I ran them with the HVAC completely off and the seat surface became much cooler than the ambient air. So much so that the seat surface was somewhat cold. It was about 80* that day and I only had the windows open during low speed driving.

Yes, they are cooled seats. I have a 2014 Lariat and the seats get COLD when the A/C is on.

I'd like to know where this information comes from.

I have them in my 2014 and they absolutely, positively get cold. The trucks A/C does NOT have to be on for the seats to cool.

My @$$ and back get cold and I love this option. Use them all the time here in South Florida.

Its a beautiful thing.

OP, get them looked at.

You are correct, the A/C does NOT have to be on for the seats to cool. I tried that coming home from work this morning and the seat got very cold. That's good to know.

Thanks,
David

Interesting. I have a 2011 Lariat with cooled seats. Yes my back and butt get cold, but that is due to evaporation of moisture from my body and clothes. When I have the cooled seat on in my passenger seat with nobody in it it is not cold. Also realize that decompressing air (like when it comes out of the seat) has a natural cooling effect.
