Like or Not electric steering
That explains the difference in feel between my 08 and my 14. I knew something changed but never thought to ask what it was. I love the new feel. With my wider rims and tires it corners nicely and steering those corners is a breeze. Only 3k miles so no time for issues yet.
Drove the 15 passenger 08 GMC church van last night. Horrible. Steering too stiff, my wrists were aching, and I have a physically demanding job, so I'm no wimp. It didn't help that it rides like a buckboard wagon. My wife's business 91 15 passenger Ford rides and drives far better.
I like it in my new Platinum too. It feels "lighter" than the steering in my old King Ranch, but the alignment seems perfect so the truck tracks straight and true. Maybe I'm just getting lazy, but when I drive, I don't like to "work".

you hit the nail on the head! this gen of trucks are a blast to drive and nothing puts a bigger smile on my face like some windshield/seat time. its sure nice to not work at driving when its a big truck.
Yes it started with the engine change in 2011, except the 6.2L is still hydraulic assisted
I love it in my 2014 5.0L and Don't mind it on my wife's 2010 Escape 3.0L
My 2002 had the old steering in it an it was just as easy as this is,, this maybe even easier. But there is every little feel to the steering for me. Also the 2002 had wider tires on it which prolly gave it more feel. Compared to the narrower tires on this one.
I'm anticipating less wear over time. I had an '03 and had to change out steering parts as it started wandering pretty bad. My wife likes how it tracks compared to her '12 Explorer which is a nice rig, but with the longer wheelbase and tight steering it is pretty easy to run 500 mile days with.
