Ford Platinum or Ford Problem?

Pretty much Fed up with this truck. Bought it Brand new in 2013 and have had So many problems I cannot even begin to think as these trucks as "FORD TOUGH"??? This is my 3rd Ford in 16 years and they all have had their fair share of problems.

Currently I have been in the shop 4 times now with front brake problems. They recently agreed to change ALL my rotors and pads. That was one week ago, today I look and the NEW rotors are already starting to gouge. The other side is just fine. This has been happening since I bought the truck. If this doesnt get fixed I am done with these trucks. Is the quality really that bad? Three different trucks all with problems? Has anyone else experienced this? I hate to go to another brand but this is going to force my hand.......

I have had a 2005, a 2011 and now a 2014. The 05 needed a new throttle body under warranty. No other problems for 135,000 miles. The 2011 was 85,000 trouble free. No problems with the 2014 so far in 9,000 miles.

One bad lemon doesn't make the whole bushel bad.........

Reach out to our Ford CSR, send her a PM. Member name is "FordService". She can escalate your problem if your dealer can't fix it right.

What is going on that you are tearing up rotors in a week? Did the pads get put on wrong or did you hit a lot of water while they were hot and warp them?

First, welcome to the site.

Secondly, and to answer your question, yes. They are all that bad. That's why they sell so many of them.

I will say the Rotors suck on these trucks, but 200 bucks will fix that problem

As far as reliability i have never had a problem with Fords, Just normal maintenance

01 F150 V6 5 speed 165k miles ( front brakes and dpfe sensor)
03 King Ranch 150k ( Shocks, Plugs and Coils)
07 4.6 Xlt bought with 75k miles traded it at 80k miles No problems in 5k miles
07 5.4 FX2 bought with 70k miles and traded it in 85k miles ( Plugs)

13 Eb Almost 50k miles ( front rotors and pads, Speaker Harness for Radio Speaker, noisy slip yoke (finally got it fixed and it hasnt come back)

These are just the trucks.. Had plenty of Ford Cars and they have all been great.

I want to see what I can do to help, ireash. How many miles are on your truck? I'll get to work on some options.

I'll share my experiance here, I do almost all of my own repairs. Purchased a used 2010 F150 CC that had just had the brakes done (56,000 miles). Within 4000 miles it was into the rotor on the right front. This was because both inner pads were installed on the right side. The humps (found only on the inner pads) touch the caliper when installed on the outter side, causing the caliper to twist, preventing it from releasing, but not enough to cause the steering to pull.

Come on now Dewswer, be nice. The guy sounds like he has some legitimate problems. Let's be honest, all vehicles will eventually have problems. And even the best occasionally pop out a turd. It could even be as simple as a Service Technician not doing something correctly. Thankfully, Ford Service has jumped on this post and hopefully they'll be able to work something out for the OP.

On a related note, the annual Consumer Reports ranking of the various auto manufacturers that came out today were not too kind to Ford either. They came in 24th.

Reckon that was Big D bein' nice

As fer CR - as before a large portion of the issue remains the Sync Infortainment issues. And, as before, that tells me just how far people's heads be up they own aysses, lol.

I cain't believe that single metric carries that much weighting.

Ah well .. they pioneered the "Do Not Sit Here" labels on bicycles

Fekkin' homeschooled Millennial snowflakes ....

Yea, I know what you mean about CR. Remember when "Liftover Height" (at the trunk) used to be one of their most important measurements?

As far as Sync goes though, it can get pretty irritating - particularly when you've experienced some of the infotainment systems on other brands. (One of the joys of having rented many, many cars.)

An even bigger joke is how far apart nearly identical products can be. Compare Audi to VW, I saw one CR listing that showed a 17ish place gap between the two. Strange since almost all of the important parts are completely interchangeable. Same thing for Buick and Chevrolet. On their scale, not being able to change the radio with a button is equal to a blown motor...
