Trailer towing?
Trailer towing?
OK guys I have a 2014 F150 XLT 5.0L 4x4 crew cab and I am looking at buying a camper. The one I am thinking about getting is a bumper pull, 28 feet long, and the dry weight is 5000lbs. Would I be safe to pull this camper?
Check door seal sticker for all your payload numbers, but you should be good...operating closer to max payload probably, but good. Check out the towing section and do a search to learn more about GVWR, payload, etc. Worst part will probably be your payload because that trailer will add 5-600 lbs on top of cargo, passengers, gas, etc.
Here's the 2014 F150 Towing Guide in pdf. Unless I read the wrong line, you're good for even more trailer behind that 5.0.

It's not the trailer weight that's the limiting factor, it's the truck GVWR. Those max tow ratings are based on an empty truck (except for a 150# driver and 1/4 tank of gas) and a trailer with minimum tongue weight. A 5000# dry trailer is going to weigh considerably more ready for the road.

Just towed this 1980 Jeep J10 V8 4x4 over the weekend. Was the first time I have towed anything with my 2012 5.0 and i was extremely happy with the power it had and how it handled towing the J10. Mine also has the towing package with the automatic engine brake which really helped alot coming down the hills, I barely had to use my brakes. Truck was a little bit low in the back though because we used a hitch with too much of a drop.
