My '12 has no means of locking the seat down. Upright yes. There is a way to unlatch the back of the seat and lay it down but is not easily accessible by the common public.

My 2014 f150 owners manual Page 120 has the following WARNING:

" Make sure that cargo or any objects are not trapped underneath the seat cushion before returning the seat cushion to the original position, and that that the seat cushion locks into place. Failure to do so may prevent the seat from operating properly in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of serious injury. "

I bought the truck at home in Florida and within a week drove it up here to my summer camp in Vermont. I'm kinda remote and there are Ford dealers with in reach, but I have not had the time yet to seek a dealer clariification on what is going on here.

I will advise when I do
I emailed Ford asking the same question and here is what they just wrote back:

I appreciate the time you have taken to write us.

To assist you, I have escalated your case to our Technical Subject Matter Expert. We have confirmed that only the Super Cab vehicles have a locking position for the seat bottom when down. Your vehicle is a Super Crew model. Please note that the Super Crew models do not lock in the lowered position. They are different seats and the warning only applies to the Super Cab model seats. You may find this information on page 119 of your Owner’s Manual.
