2014 Supercrew back seat lockdown

When the wife and I were looking at buying a new truck, the one we bought when we looked at it, the back seats locked in the down position. My bud that owns the dealership even had issues with getting the small seat to unlock. Now they don't lock in the down position at all. I have taken it back and had his service manager look at it and we went out on the lot and opened 2 new trucks and neither of them locked down. Every Supercrew I've owned, the back seats lock down but this truck doesn't. So the question is, in your 2014 Supercrew, do the back seats lock in the down position? In mine, all you have to do is pick the bottom of the seat up, no unlocking required. They do lock in the up position.Yeah I know, dumb question but I have daughter and baby coming in a few weeks and it looks like a safety hazard to me.

My 2013 doesn't lock down either.. I was thinking safety concern also with my son but figured there was a reason why it doesnt lock

My 14 is just like yours, only locks in the up position. I wouldn't think, as long as the kids are sitting and bulked up, that it would be a problem. I have two kids in mine, and really never put any thought to it.

I appreciate the responses. I guess I'm just paranoid about my grand kid and daughters safety. Still seems strange that the seat is free to flop around if you were in a real major accident and your body weight was headed for the roof. It just appears to be a recipe for a broken neck. I already have a brother with a broken back, I don't need more family in wheelchairs although I guess we could have races at reunions. Thanks again.

If it's a big concern and you know for sure other older models do it, I bet you could swap frames out

Hello! I'm new to the group, and not trying to step on any toes, but I saw this thread and had to reply. When I first saw that the seats didn't lock in the down position on 2014,I too was worried. But then, after some thinking, I realized that gravity is going to hold it down in almost all situations. In the event of a major accident or rollover, the seat belts (highly sophisticated in comparison to older vehicles) will LOCK and hold the occupant and the seat in place.

Just my opinion.........

The seatbelts will keep the passengers and the seats down.

What are the plastic hooks for under the bottom of the seat?

Given the effort required to lift the seat bottoms into the storage position, the only scenario where I could see a potential issue with the seat trying to close in an accident would be if the truck were upside down. As others have pointed out, if the occupants are correctly wearing their seat belts this should not be an issue.

rear seat lockdown

I have a new 2014 f150 super crew and I also could find no way to lock down the rear seats.

My 2014 f150 owners manual Page 120 has the following WARNING:

" Make sure that cargo or any objects are not trapped underneath the seat cushion before returning the seat cushion to the original position, and that that the seat cushion locks into place. Failure to do so may prevent the seat from operating properly in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of serious injury. "

Soo...

I bought the truck at home in Florida and within a week drove it up here to my summer camp in Vermont. I'm kinda remote and there are Ford dealers with in reach, but I have not had the time yet to seek a dealer clariification on what is going on here.

I will advise when I do
