Glad you had a chance to test drive a few trucks. I test drove 4 EB SCab trucks with 3.31 gears and one 5.0L 4x4 SCab with 3.55 gears back in April, and I had a similar test drive, only with the EB trucks being underpowered and the 5.0L truck having the power advantage. You can drive 5 trucks back to back, with the same options and powertrain, and one or two of them will perform differently.

I can see a definite advantage in power to the wheels, if you were comparing your tuned EB with a non-tuned 5.0L with 3.31 gears. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to locate a 5.0L or EB within 50 miles of my home, that doesn't have 3.31 gears. If you do, it is an FX4, Limited, or have a 3.7L with 3.73 gears.

It still baffles me, the way Ford rates tow capacities on the F150. So, a 4x4 F150 truck is definitely not in my plans, with a 7,800 lb tow capacity. Which is irritating, the 1500 GMC and Chevy 4x4 has a tow rating of 9,600 lbs.

Going from 3.31/3.55 to 3.73 on 2nd 5.0 screw moves towing from 8k to 9400. Pretty substantial jump in towing numbers

Your AC compressor cycles as is, that combined with about 30 seconds worth of "cool" in the evaporator, and most people won't notice the slightly warmer temp in a short stoplight. It's the 4 or 5 minute lights that become issues for belt driven compressors. I'd bet small electric motor driven AC compressor is on its way.
On the flip side of the coin, hybrid/full electric vehicles don't have complaints of warm AC

Howdy, Coy!

Hell fahr, son! You JUST told me you's pleased as punch wif ye ride!

Just kiddin'. I know how aggravating the "clunk" can be. Ferd fixed mine at about 10K miles with the TSB service, but every visit back for same issue has netted Ferd's typical response, "Within factory specs". What a load of hooey!

Anywho, and I'm not trying to rain on ye here, but please consider the thought that Ford will very likely not be offering much, if anything, in the way of rebates, incentives, etc on the 2015s. The ol' supply/demand thing applies here, and all the folks I know that are "in the know" seem to think it will be at least 9 months before Ford offers much for the 2015s.

That's one of the factors that I'm keeping in mind on my possible new purchase. How much will the 2015 I WANT (probably Lariat or loaded FX4) actually cost me for the first year or so? Who knows. We'll just have to wait and see.

That, or you could get that 5.0!

Who'da thunk it...Coy is considering a 5.0, and I'm considering an EB! What's the world coming to?

I would still like to find a 5.0 with 3.73s and take her for a spin, but have a feeling it still wouldnt be enough since im use to a Tuned Eb.

I am pleased with my truck and love the damn thing, it was just a heat of the moment when i made this thread, especially after driving 70 miles for a bum service appt At 1 point i was on the internet looking at Rams

Ive heard the same thing about the incentitives and rebates on the 15. I usually dont like financing but if there are no rebates to speak of i guess that will be the only option, Unless i wait for the 16's to come out and get a left over 15. Still cant wait to see these on the lots though!

You are correct.

I was making a comment that it is hard to find a Ford F150 with 3.55 gears in my area, except for a few 4x4 SCab's.

In comparison, Ford rates tow capacites at:
4x2 Tremor at 8,000 lbs
4x2 reg cab shortbed 5.0 with 3.55 gears at 8,300 lbs
4x2 5.0 SCab with 3.55 gears at 9,500 lbs
4x2 EB SCab with 3.31 gears at 9,400 lbs
4x4 5.0 SCab with 3.55 gears at 7,800 lbs

It's almost as if Ford, is rating tow capacities to sale more EB trucks. Coy has decided to keep his ride for now, and get the bugs taken care of. Best of luck.

If he is short enough he can get the TACO TuRD.

(reminds me of several mornings after late nights at the bar and all night taco joints in SoCal)

This did not play out for me when I was looking for trucks a few years ago. I contacted 5 dealership's internet department. Two responded within a week, one responded a month later asking if I was still interested and two never responded. The two who responded immediately could only knock of nothing and were unwilling to come down at all. The one who responded a month later got butt hurt when I told them that when I'm looking for a new truck and have to wait a month for them to respond, it puts them at the top of the "avoid at all costs" list.

Surprisingly, the dealership I currently use had a very bad first impression. I walked the entire lot and showroom and wasn't approached once. As I left the showroom I made a loud comment to my wife that it was obvious that the sales people were more interested in talking with each other than with a buying customer. The floor manager looked up from his newspaper and I smiled as I walked out. When I got home, I sent e-mails to the dealership owner and Ford corporate. I especially pointed out to Ford that I had been a share holder for over a decade and was not pleased that I was not receiving any dividends from my holdings and I blame dealerships like the one I visited. I also informed them that if they didn't do anything to improve, I would be voting against current company leadership. A few months later I walked the lot againbecauseue they had a truck I wanted (I was going to have it delivered to a closer dealership). The difference in customer service was huge. It was so good they won me back as a customereven thoughgh they are 20 miles away and the closest is only 4 miles from my house.

Dealerships usually do not keep sales employees, including sales management for more than a few months. The auto sales industry is very competitive, and sales employees are always looking for a better dealer to work for. Or, they decided to move on to another calling, because they realized they are not a car salesperson.

It is more likely that the sales team quit, moved on, or transferred to a different store.

That could be. Either way the managment hired better employees, trained them better, or put a foot in the butts of those who were employed there at the time. The reason I knew the guy looking up was the floor manager was he was still there when I bought my truck.

Headed up to the Ford Dealership this morning to have the work done, Pulled up at 8am and the truck was in the shop by 810.. About 930 the service manager came out and said they did the slip yoke tsb but it still had a slight clunk to it, so they pulled the drive shaft back down took everything apart and used Marine Grease with Teflon on the Splines and everywhere needed, and put everything back together. Now its exactly the way it should be. He said if it starts doing it again they will put a new drive shaft on the truck, every truck they have done the marine grease to hasn't come back so he seems to think everything will be good.

They installed the New Radio and told me i was ready to go, They didn't charge me anything for the radio even though the truck was out of the bumper to bumper warranty. Got in the truck and noticed they had filled up the gas tank also. I went back in there to say thank you and the service manager said i told you we take care of our customers.

So as of now it seems i have finally found a great dealer that makes sure the customer is happy.

While i was waiting for the truck i was surfing craigslist and found a new toy i had to have, as soon as i left the ford dealership i headed over to the guys house to pick up the tractor and the trailer. Every time i tow with the Eb i am more impressed with it, It was hard to tell i was even pulling a load. Pulled up in the driveway and looked at my mpg and it was sitting at 15.8 mpg after the 87 mile drive

It should be an absolute embarassment that Ford has not fixed the Slip-Yoke issue after 10 years of it being a KNOWN ISSUE...
