Close. According to Ford's own documentation, the 4wd system adds 302 lbs.

This info was derived from two identically equipped trucks with only one variable, same wheelbase, same engine, same cab style, same wheels, same options. One was 2wd the other was a 4x4 and there was a 302 lb difference in shipping weight.

The trucks in question are a 2wd tremor that weighs 4871 and a 4x4 tremor at 5173

Thanks. Ya gonna tell me that it's 3:02.57 instead of 3 O'clock if I ask ya the time? 100 pounds off is notable though.

Traveling from Raleigh NC to Kent OH today...I got 16.1 MPG untill the WV mtns, then it went to 15.5 mpg.
My setup is 5.0L w/ 2" level kit with 2" rear block, Screw on 37lb 20" wheels and 59lb Duratrac 285-60 tires.
Speed was 5mph over limit the whole way with 3 grown adults and a bedload of stuff. (We are moving)

Im happy with anything over 15 mpg!

This really makes me question whether I want to upgrade to an ecoboost or even the 5.0...my lifted 08 is getting 12.5-13.5 average. And I really want to keep a 3.73 gear for towing. I don't know...

Remembering that it's a TRUCK ... For every whiner there's probably 10 folks that are more than satisfied with their 2011+ F-150.

Mine routinely gets 16+MPG in city driving (even in the winter) and 20+MPG on the highway (e.g. 22.8 - recent 700 mile round-trip from MI to IN with 800Lbs of cargo in the bed on the return trip). *ALL MPG claims are calculated (not derived from any of the cluster MPG displays)- the mileage and gallons of fuel are logged in a notepad in the glovebox.

Configuration:
  • 2011 FX4 OFF ROAD
  • 5.0L
  • 3.73 ELD
  • 6,487 Lbs (with - driver, spare, and 150Lb tool box.
Driving style, attention to maintenance and tire PSI go a LONG WAY in determining MPG.

if you generally buy your gas at one station or one brand I would recommend trying a different place. I have had mine struggle to get 16-17. I stop fill up and reset and I get back to around 19.5. Last week drove south to Austin fighting a 20-25 mph head wind and the best I could get was 15.5. Filled up at a Murphy/Wal-Mart and of course by that evening the wind had died down so no help with a tail wind. I showed 19.6 when I got home.

we were on our way to Fla from Toronto Ont. As we got further south the mpg began to increase. South Georgia and Fla I had an adverage mpg of 19.7 so I'm good with that.

Saw a episode of Top Gear on BBC once and they had a Toyota Prius go around the track at full speed and a BMW M3 was to just keep up with the Prius. The outcome was the Prius got less than 10mpg and the M3 got 30mpg just keeping up with the Prius.

When manufactures come up with highway up to mpg ratings, the vehicles are tested at 55mph on level testing grounds.

And they are run in a lab, not out in the real world. They also use 100% straight gasoline which gives you better mileage.

No fake gas around here. I regularly get 18-19 mpg with my 09 Lariat 4x4 screw 5.4. Even in winter driving through the Kenai Mountains headed to Anchortown.

The EPA runs them on a little dyno essentially and they use the lightest, steadiest pedal possible, with a tailpipe sniffer to determine gas mileage.
