Worth the upgrade!?
Trading in my XLT on a RAPTOR!?
I talked to a few people and am hearing that the 6.2L is getting better MPG than the 5.0L!? Can that really be the case!?
Im getting roughly 15/16 MPG cty/hwy with my 5.0L 3.55 & 33.5" Tires and level. Guy at my dealer swears up and down that he is getting 18mpg on a 6.2L 3.73 Lariat....really!?
*EDIT...let me clarify...Im not thinking of trading in because of MPG. It was just a surprising fact.
My debate is this....spending $8k on my truck for Lift, Tires, HID headlights & NAV.
OR
Trading it in on a Raptor w/Nav.
THoughts!?

Have 'em put the stock wheels and tires back on the Raptor and do the trade. Money-wise, it will be a smarter investment as you won't get the money back out of the lift/wheels/tires. Coolness-wise, you can't beat a Raptor!
And no, the 6.2L won't get better fuel economy. You have to take everything into account, including driving style, type of driving (city/highway), etc.

I highly doubt a 6.2 will get better mileage than a 5.0. That guy must be doing a lot of highway driving to even see that kind of mileage. I have a feeling your mileage will be much lower with the 6.2.
Your mpg stats are right on par. Is that 18mpg 6.2 Lariat running a stock powertrain with stock wheel & tire?
I never believe what dealerships folks say, as my local dealer told a co-worker of mine that this lifted Ecoboost truck on 35s was getting the advertised 18mpg. After they bought it and experienced that it got 13/14mpg from a normal lift & tire upgrade, they weren't happy but its pretty common sense to not expect advertised mpg with a lift and tire. I guess some people are suckers.

I love my 6.2. I have an '11 Lariat 4x4 Supercrew, with the 6.2, Max Tow and 3.73's. I get Great gas mileage. Check out my albums for photos of my mileage stats. I do have KMC chrome rims with Cooper AT3 tires, but they are still the stock size of 275/65-18, and I just had them installed this past March. My mods - I have Stainlessworks full exhaust system with the long tube headers, a modified stock air box with a Volant intake tube, an SCT Livewire (canned tune slightly improved mileage, custom tunes are not as good), an Undercover tannou (spell check) cover on the bed, skid plates, and a Go Rhino 7000 series brushguard. With the above performance mods, it has increased my overall gas mileage 1-2 mpg. The Livewire on the canned tunes only improved my gas a little. Having said that, at 65 mph I get 19-20 mpg all day long. At 60 mph I get 20-21 mpg. Remember, this is driving civil. Before all the mods I was getting 18-19 mpg at 60-65 easily. At 55 mph I got 22 mpg once or twice. Again, driving civil in ideal conditions. I do a lot of around town driving during the week, running errands, etc.. In those conditions I will usually get 13-14 mpg. That's if I'm running the stock tune, or on the canned tune, and if I stay out of it. If I'm running my 91 performance tune? well. 12mpg? In 2011, my combined gas mileage for the year was 16.3 mpg.

Honestly the only thing that turned me off on getting the Raptor was the "Gas Guzzler" 6.2L...or what I thought it was at the time (12-13mpg). Id much rather have a raptor if it will get the same 15mpg Im getting now!
I do realize that you do not buy a truck for MPG...but it is my daily ride back and forth to work 25min drive. And I use my truck on the weekends for camping and heading up to go rock climbing. (my other car is a 2014 GT/CS Mustang that is for track days & weekend cruises)
If you can swing TWO 2014s, go for it. Though the Mud Grapps (looks like em) on that Raptor are going to hurt MPG. I'd rather have an 8" lift on 37s on an XLT than a stock Raptor that you can't lift even if you wanted to without going full custom.
