I do have KMC chrome rims with Cooper AT3 tires, but they are still the stock size of 275/65-18, and I just had them installed this past March. My mods - I have Stainlessworks full exhaust system with the long tube headers, a modified stock air box with a Volant intake tube, an SCT Livewire (canned tune slightly improved mileage, custom tunes are not as good), an Undercover tannou (spell check) cover on the bed, skid plates, and a Go Rhino 7000 series brushguard. With the above performance mods, it has increased my overall gas mileage 1-2 mpg. The Livewire on the canned tunes only improved my gas a little. Having said that, at 65 mph I get 19-20 mpg all day long. At 60 mph I get 20-21 mpg. Remember, this is driving civil. Before all the mods I was getting 18-19 mpg at 60-65 easily. At 55 mph I got 22 mpg once or twice. Again, driving civil in ideal conditions. I do a lot of around town driving during the week, running errands, etc.. In those conditions I will usually get 13-14 mpg. That's if I'm running the stock tune, or on the canned tune, and if I stay out of it. If I'm running my 91 performance tune? well. 12mpg? In 2011, my combined gas mileage for the year was 16.3 mpg.
A 6.2 is not going to get better mileage that the 5.0, but you said that wasn't a factor. If you want 30mpg, drive 45 and use all the tricks the experts do or drive something smaller. You are going to love this answer: Do what makes you happy. Everyone loves their raptors. I love my 5.0, but it fits me better--maybe not for you???????????

Cool

I'm sorry if I'm not believed. I would not post what I say unless I can back it up. It is what it is, I can supply proof of what I say. The snap shots in my albums are but a few. I think the 6.2 is a great engine.

Its not that I don't believe you. I am just saying that the 5.0 gets better mileage than the 6.2 and that means with the same driver using the same driving habits.

Cool

yea, you would think so. I just think that if he decides to go with the Raptor that it wouldn't be a poor choice if he was concerned about gas mileage. The 6.2 can do better than advertised. A V8 in a truck is gonna use fuel. Just depends on how diligent you can be on the throttle... I'd go for the Raptor.....

OK Guys I have decided to keep my truck....just not gonna keep it "as is"!

Planned Mods:
Fox 2.5 Coilovers w 2.0 Rear shocks
Camburg A-Arms
Readylift rear blocks
Fender Flares
Bigger/wider tires
De-Chrome everything (Bumpers, Grill etc.)
Raptor Side Steps
Intake, Tune

This will get me what Im wanting I think, Aggressive Offroad look w/good performance!

Nice choice! Though neither option was bad

Deser Dawg inspire the coilovers and UCAs?

yeah after talking to him on p.m.
it just seems like a great way to get a little bit taller without spending a s*** ton of money, cuz I can install the coil overs and a arms myself. it was either that or the Rancho suspension lift and I would have to pay for install.

Until the end of the year rebates are going to go nothing but UP UP UP. My rebate last Dec. was 3500 on a 150 xl. sorry, I didn't see that you already decided.

I just figured he was the inspiration cause his build was so public! Sound way to get a little taller, though I don't know how much above 3" you can go. Probably pretty close to a 4" lift anyway.

Im getting roughly 15/16 MPG cty/hwy with my 5.0L 3.55 & 33.5" Tires and level. Guy at my dealer swears up and down that he is getting 18mpg on a 6.2L 3.73 Lariat....really!?
*EDIT...let me clarify...Im not thinking of trading in because of MPG. It was just a surprising fact.

My debate is this....spending $8k on my truck for Lift, Tires, HID headlights & NAV.
OR
Trading it in on a Raptor w/Nav.

THoughts!?

My Truck now:

OR

2014 4dr RAPTOR:

I'm still wondering if this is a real question or a Raptor promo. The Raptor guy at the Dealer can swear all he wants. He might even get 18 at 45 on the freeway--If you drive the Raptor the same way as the xlt, the mileage is going to be worse in a Raptor.....on it goes.

he wasn't talking about a raptor getting that kind of mileage. raptors don't have a 3.73 rear end.it is possible to get 18-19 mpgs on the freeway in a raptor.

It is, but you would be "that guy" in the slow lane with people blowing by you like you were standing still.

On the Raptor that he was looking to buy? Maybe, but I don't think so. This was like a one time only deal and AFAIK the first ever rebate from Ford on the Raptor. Now it is no longer.
