Opinion wanted....

Just bought a used 2012 Lariat which does not have side steps. My 06 FX4 that I sold (35,000 miles and mint) did have them. I'm picking up my new/used truck next Saturday and wondering if I should order out a set of side steps right now. I never had any issues with the ones that were on my 06 and thought they looked OK. On the other hand perhaps they really aren't needed?

Just wondering what other owners think about side steps and if they are really worth adding to my new truck. Yes yes... I know I can drive it for awhile without them then make a decision. On the other hand I'd like to have everything set before the cold weather sets in around here!

Here's a few pic's of the truck... It has 8000 miles and is running the Eco-Boost engine. I test drove a new one from local dealer and drove it for about an hour. It's what really sold me on the truck as I thought the engine performed fantastic..... I test drove chevy, Ram and Toyota and felt the Ford was still the best truck all around truck with that engine combo. I had no complaints on my 06 which I bought new.... Hope the new one treats me as well........

Excellent suggestion! Not inexpensive but it sure is nice to have them completely hidden when not in use......... Thanks for the suggestion and that's probably what I'm going to do! Keeps the nice clean look of the truck.....

Should you get them? Depends, do you like the steps? If so get them. Do you have anyone that really needs the steps? In my case, knees are bad enough to require them. Anyone one like that, especially older passengers? Get them for their sake.

Ford has more than one style also. You may like one style over another.

I just replaced the factory nerf bars on my Expedition with Nfabs and love them. They are a lot cleaner than the factory bars or running boards. I considered Amps but they don' t offer a bolt on option for my truck.
