Yeah. 5 hp and 30 ft lbs. Not even on the same playing field, huh?

Well boys, I've read a few of these "which should I get" threads on other F150 forums I'm on. I like 'em. But hey, I ain't right. I do learn a few things.

Now, since I now have an '02 with hard to change spark plugs, what I want to know is how hard is do it yeself maintenance on the 5.0 and Ecoboost? Basic stuff like oil/filter changes, spark plug replacement, brakes, and shocks? These are the things I like to do meself, but me old 5.4 plugs has me wondering should I change them, or just trade it in! Only have 90,000 miles, but original plugs. OP, don't know if these things are important to you in your decision, but easy maintenance is important to me. So boys, are the Ecoboost and 5.0 about the same for maintenance ease?

Change the plugs in your 02. Not that difficult. Just make sure to torque the new ones to 28 ft lbs and no antisieze on the threads.

Maintenance on the 5.0 is about as straight forward as it will get.

Thanks, Blue. I'll have to tackle this job, while watching a YouTube video on doing it! Took one old boy about a whole day! Glad to hear the newer ones are easy!

I changed the plugs on my 02' a few months ago. It took me less that 3 hours from start to finish and that was my first time changing all 8 of them at once. It is not as bad as it is made out to be. Just make sure you have some swivel joints.

Actually it seems the Eco makes 385hp and 430lb/ft when running premium fuel.

I am more than willing to line our trucks side by side on a 7% grade with 8000lb trailers in tow and show you how far out of the playing field you really are..

Why don't you use 10k lb. trailers? Oh yeah, because the 5.0 isn't rated to tow that much!

This thread just gets better.....

If I had a 10,000 pound trailer I wouldn't be driving a half ton.....

I need to get my hands on a 6.2L now......

Me neither. I'd be driving a 3/4 ton diesel. Oh wait, I do, and I am.

today i pulled my 5x10 trailer up a 10 percent grade (ranger mountain for you texans) running at 75mph, There was a new silverado in front of me, i kept gaining on him then started smelling his exhaust like he was wide open, got right on his rear bumper pulled out to the left lane pushed the pedal down 3/4 and by the time i got to the top i was running 90.. All i saw was a little red dot in the mirror, It was great!

As long as it's a Ford truck, does it really matter?

Okay, got that settled. Thread closed.
