2014 Tremor - Looks fun!
I don't dislike ecoboost, I just prefer a V8 in a truck. No way a V6 is going to sound as awesome as a V8. The Tremor was a poor name choice for a V6 equipped truck. Other than the wheels, I really don't like the look of it either. The striping on the side looks horrible. I would rather save my money, buy an STX with a 5.0 and mod it and charge it. Would look better and smoke the ecoboost.
It should smoke the Ecoboost after you dump $6k or $7k into it, which is about what most superchargers cost.
if the ecoboost isn't fast enough stock, get some custom tunes, a little exhaust work and intake and it would really scoot maybe another 1500 dollars compared to 6k on the 5.0 mods and having to charge it to get the same results. Guess I'm weird but I'd rather hear the turbos whistling when passing a car instead of the v8 sound.

I think a lot of V8s sound like *** if they're done wrong. An old SBC through glasspacks sounds terrible. Sure they're loud but so are honduhs with fart pipes. A DOHC V6 has very smooth exhaust pulses that can sound really good. Throw turbos spooling up to the mix and the sound can be fantastic.
A supercharged 5.0 is gonna be considerably faster than an Eco with tunes and small bolt ons. And the 5.0's have more potential. But above all, they don't sound like a rice burner

Ecoboost looks to be the winner when looking at the specs, even when calling it a rice burner.
Each to their own but I'm not impressed by this truck, seems like ford just thrown a bunch of stuff together already offered in the f150 line up just to sell a truck and try to fill that gap in the market. I wonder if they really tested this truck like they did the lightning, can it even match or beat a truck that is no longer built.... No offense to anybody that has a ecoboost but it will never sound as good as a modular v8 with a full exhaust. Anybody ever ride in a supercharged mustang or lightning? The whine from the blower and quick acceleration can't be beat. (uncle has a 03 cobra) my 2 cents
We're not talking about rice burners, we're talking about 3.5L Ti-VCT 4-Valve V6 EcoBoost™ motor. making that comparison is asinine.

And quoting the engine specs is something every Civic Si owner does

"Yeah man! My VTEC kicked in and then I jus' blew his doors off man"
No one ever said that this is supposed to be anything like the Lightning. That's not what this truck is. I had an '04 Lightning, so I know what it's like. Ford isn't going to build another truck like that as long as we have the EPA/MPG to deal with.
Not everyone is going to like this truck. Not everyone is going to like any truck. It's a pretty good option for may people. I prefer the rcsb. I'd get one of these trucks, but I've reached the time when I've got to pay one of these things off and then be happy with the one I've got. (That's easy to say now. Maybe not so once these are on the dealer lots.)
I like the sound of a V8 too. The Lightning I had had a Magnaflow system, headers back. It was AWSOME. It was also loud as hell and my wife didn't want to ride in the truck for anything more than short trips. I've driven a couple ECO F150s, and they are quiet in a way that your wife won't complain about how it sounds, yet you'll have a decent amount of juice when you stab the throttle.
A Mustang GT sounds great and had a great power to weight ratio. It's good that Ford offers this option for those of us who really like the sound of a V8.
The aftermarket will provide many of us with power adders that will keep us happy. Supercharging is expensive, I know I've done it. Before the Lightning, I bolted a Magnacharger to a 4.6. It's great fun, but reliability comes into question.
To each his own.

I think alot of you feel like your man card will be damaged if you cant hear the v8 sound, its a v6 that performs better than a 5.0, big deal if it doesnt sound like a v8.
Plus the ecoboost will spank a stock 5.0, to me that would damage my man card when ya get whopped by a 6 banger

Im done with the ecoboost vs 5.0 discussion, apparently ford thought it was a better idea and so far Ford hasnt let me down..
This truck is definitely geared towards a sport / performance truck. I understand why they used current parts on an f150 to make this truck to keep costs down but it's really nothing special (like a raptor or lightning) and I'm sure the price isn't going to be cheap either probably as high as a fx4 or fx2 truck. On another note who buys a performance truck or car for gas mileage or to satisfy their significant other? Lmao as far as the mustang ford would be stupid not to offer a v8, the car has always been known as an affordable v8 car with tons of aftermarket parts to do what u want.
Hopefully with rebates, discounts, etc. you can get the price down to around $30k on a 4x2.
I went on the Build a 2013 F150 site... a RCSB 4x2 XLT with the base 3.7 engine and no other options added has a sticker price of $29345. Once you add the Ecoboost engine, 20" wheel/tires, 4.10 gears and fancy interior that's going to add about $10k to the sticker price.
