2014 Tremor - Looks fun!
Just test drove the stx it had the 5.0 with 3.31 gears, pretty impressed with the power of it, i think my truck would still beat it but not by much.. I can only imagine the ecoboost and a 4.10 rear end with locking diff in the same size truck.
Still not sure which route im gonna go.. Keep thinking im a fool to pass up a deal like this but then again wait a few months for the new model to come out.. I just have a feeling if the tremor is too expensive then i would have to wait even longer to get any decent rebates and incentives to be able to get a 14 stx

Well what does your wife want or want to do? It's gonna be her truck! It would make your life a little easier to go with whatever she wants to do. I don't know if I'd do that though haha
As long as it has 4 tires and a truck bed and pretty color she don't care. Haha
But I think Coy wants a Tremor so that it'll be like a secondary truck/toy for himself haha. After all, he IS talking about possible mods now, if he ends up with a 5.0 STX, and the wife isn't gonna be the one enjoying them!
.
Neither does the Ecoboost
But I'm familiar with how the wife's car becomes the husband's toy. My dad bought an '07 Mustang GT "for" my mother. Yeah right! It's been his daily driver since it was about a month old haha

Neither V6 sounds like a V8. No matter how much money you dump into either is going to change that.
The 3.7 is the better sounding V6 though... less the turbo whistle.
I like the Tremor, but an STX rcsb with the 5.0 is a pretty damn good value for the money. You folks down south can have a 4X2 for a song.

It sounds to me like this truck is not supposed to be a Lightning, it's not an SVT vehicle, it's not super charged, and it's not REALLY all that special. Yet Ford is going to produce it in small numbers and force it to be priced like it is special. If it were a normal pickup, we'd get the 10k+ off sticker, and have it be reasonably priced when we walk out the door. But if it is only produced in very limited quantities, people are gonna pay close to, or even above, sticker.
Yeah, it was mostly a reiteration. It just irritates me when a company comes up with something great, that a lot of people would buy, but they then (somewhat) intentionally put it out of reach for many who want it. Ford has their reasons for doing it, but I feel there is more money to be make with higher volume on these (again somewhat) special vehicles. Granted, we don't know that this is the case, but it was done with the Raptor. There are so few of them that people pay TOO much for them. We like to discuss how little the depreciation is on the regular F-150's, but the depreciation on Raptors is even worse (better).
I don't even care what engine is in it.
More on pricing and strategy...
Quote:
I initially thought that this would directly compete with Ford's Raptor, but it looks as if Ford will attempt to keep the base price under $30,000 -- although official pricing hasn't been released. If it can keep the price lower, it might open up doors to a consumer wanting an aftermarket look right off the dealer lot and at a fair price.
Investing takeaway
Keeping the price low will be key for the Tremor's success, but it will probably cannibalize sales of Ford's Raptor. Ultimately the Tremor and Raptor are niche vehicles that represent a very small amount of F-150 sales. Any incremental sales gained by the Tremor won't be enough to move the needle and create profits that the truck segment typically brings Ford -- but perhaps that isn't the goal.
Perhaps the goal is to simply attract as much attention from General Motors' (NYSE: GM ) release of its 2014 Silverado and Sierra before Ford can release its next-generation 2015 F-150. A flashy looking ride, with high performance and fuel economy at a price under $30,000, could indeed be successful at stealing some thunder from GM's new models when the Tremor hits stores this fall.
The Tremor might be a success for consumers looking for this type of ride, and it will probably deliver performance-satisfying results. For investors, though, this is nothing to get excited about. It won't boost market share, profits, or sales numbers. But that's OK, because the F-Series already delivers a ton of profits to Ford's bottom line and has been America's favorite truck for 36 years. This can only steal excitement from GM's launch, which is fine by Ford investors.
