Brakes don't work when cold!
Now...........I've never looked, but does an Ecoboost have a vacuum brake booster or a hydraulic brake booster? I had a 1977 Lincoln Town Car that had hydraulic boost, it was driven by the power steering pump. I'd guess it's vacuum because there's no power steering pump with EPAS, right?
@ManualF150- I'm 6'2 250 pound guy that can barely apply enough force to stop truck so I'm thinking the positive pressure issue is more to my problem. @glc- it is a vacuum booster.
Went to pick up truck yesterday and bumper still bent, body work was crappy and had overspray all over the underside of the truck. I called ford customer care and they essentially could care less and say its a workmanship issue between me and dealer.
So here we go, 23 days in shop for this problem, 28 days total for repairs and counting....
Also found this link with Flex owners describing exact same issue...

It always worries me when hearing of issues when you have the same vehicle. Im wondering if it does have something to do with the EB, then why did it not do it from day one? Mine has around 15,000 miles and have not had this issue, and hope i dont. I do feel for you for having to deal with a poor dealer like that. I've been there before. Keeping my fingers crossed on mine.
I bought my 2011 F150 XLT in September of 2011. I just recently experienced this brake problem when the vehicle hasn't run in a while. I Googled the problem to get here so to hopefully avoid going to the dealer and having them tell me there is nothing wrong. Nothing more frustrating than hoping problem will present itself when brought in. Thanks for the info.
What I would do if it was my truck would be to disconnect the large vacuum line running to the brake booster. This will remove all power assist but your brakes will still work. At low engine speeds and throttle opening the EB will still be in a vacuum condition in the manifold. Kick the trans into neutral after the engine has dropped out of its warm up cycle and see if it makes a difference. The pedal should be pretty hard to push but doable. This will isolate the booster/master cylinder from the power assist circuit and should point towards the culprit. Of course you will need to plug off the vac line for the engine to run properly.

Hi everyone! I have the same problem you guys are having. I start my truck up cold put my foot on break then reverse. Start backing up with my foot slightly on the break to make sure no cars are coming. I start backing out of my driveway. I get to stop. My break pedal gets rock hard. I have to use both feet to stop the truck and it rolls for another 8 feet. When it does this it feels like the abs is kicking on when sliding on ice. This happens year round, on and off so its not predictable, and i took it to the towne ford dealership and they couldn't anything wrong with it. So i started driving it again because i thought the issue went away. It started to get worse now when i make a left or a right hand turn the traction control kicks on. The truck had this issue logged under warranty before it went off. I took it to another local ford dealer and now I have a rental for free and the trucks been there over night. They said there not sure what it is and working with me on locating the issue. They said something about putting a fly box in to wait for the truck to do this again was one of the suggestions. I feel the truck is not safe to drive it takes one time for the truck not to stop completely. I am not sure what to do please help me.
My wife's Lincoln just had the brake booster replaced. Service writer told her that it is a known issue and Ford would still have warranted it even if vehicle B-T-B warranty had expired--hers had 1,500 miles left. No recall, just an "arrangement' with the dealers to do the fix.
It's likely the Vacuum pump under the battery. These have been known to fail on the 2011-2013. This pump is electric and keeps vacuum while you are in boost. So you can use 4x4 and brakes. In 2014 ford went with a mechanical pump on the motor. Ford knows it's an issue but their dealers may not. Most issues have been in areas with lots of salt on roads. The Vacuum pump is not very protected under the battery. Mine makes a big gurgle on some cold starts but hasn't failed yet. Not enough federal complaints yet for Ford to remedy the problem with a recall.
Thank you Winchested. This may sound like a dumb question, but do you think its a safety issue? It only happens when the vehicle is cold in the morning. As soon as I rev the engine a little, the power brakes kick in and they work fine for the rest of the day. I called the local Ford dealer and the service guy was "unaware" of any issues, but said he would look into it. Called me back and said it was the vacuum pump. Since my vehicle is a 2011 and has 53,000 miles, they said they would not cover the repair. I sent a note to Ford on their corporate website, but they admit right upfront they may not get back to me regarding my email to them. I'm considering using my LegalShield membership. Maybe a call from an attorney would make a difference?
Same brake issue here too
I bought out my brothers 2011 f150 ecoboost lease first week we had it scared the **** out of my wife and I happened to both of us baking out of driveway pedal to the floor and no stopping until system built up vacuum now we let the truck run for 3 minutes before taking off. I really feel ford should have a recall on this issue when I spoke with my dealership they said its the booster in the engine and I just have to let the truck run to build of vacuum. Sounds like a real safe work around!
About a month ago I purchased a 2011 f-150 Super cab 4x4 ecoboost. It was certified pre-owned and had 19,000 miles on it. The second week it was towed to the shop as apparently it had bad spark plugs, whole different thread. Today, I brought it to the dealer because when I first start it in the morning and put it in gear or if it sits for a few hours the brakes hardly work at slow speed for approximately 3 minutes. After it warms up their fine. When I say the brakes don't work, I mean I put it in gear and move backwards, With all my strength with both legs pushing on pedal I can barely get it to stop with the abs kicking in and the pedal staying up high and not to the floor. This happens while on flat ground, dry pavement. Anybody else experienced this because dealer is so far not able to duplicate problem and I think there starting to think I'm crazy. What freaked me out recently is I backed down my driveway not thinking and almost hit my mailbox but swerved and got it stopped while in my neighbors yard. Any help or thoughts with similar issues would be greatly appreciated!

Well Ford changed the vac pump about 1 year in my ecoboost 1 year ago under the 36,000 warrenty. They insisted it DIDN"T have a vacum pump at first I showed them the open 40A fuse and the vacum line to pump behind headlight.
Last week I was slowly backing my toy hauler down a steep road NO POWER Brakes I was in Low gear thankfully and was able to get it into drive before going in ditch.
I also was getting P016 code and P0299 codes with check engine light staying on and going into limp mode. I reset them and they came back in a week.
I took it to the dealer on Monday just got off the phone with them this is the info I gave them.
