Just purchased a 2011 FX4, have a few questions
Hey guys, I am in the process of buying a 2011 F150 Super crew FX4 with the 5.0 in it and I have a few questions:
1. How do I know if it has the max tow paxkage?
2. Do all FX4 trucks come equiped with the 3.73 rear with the E-locker?
What is the tow rating? It has the optional pin connectors but no brake controller.
3. The dealer told me the factory controller be installed if not built with it, is that true?
Attached is the link to the truck I am going to purchase. I live in NY and am traveling to get the truck. It is being purchased without seeing it in person and the dealer stated that if I get there and it is not what was explained the deal is off.
What should I be looking for when I get there?

That truck does not have the max tow package. A dead give away is that the max tow package will have the large extendable mirrors. The max tow package WILL have the trailer brake controller, 7 pin receptacle (right next to the 4 pin), transmission cooler (pop the hood and the cooler sits in front of the a/c condenser to the upper right), upgraded radiater, extendable tow mirrors, 3.55 limited slip axle (3.73 is optional) although I'm not sure about the FX4, I have a Lariat. The dealer knows what it is. He's a ford dealer. Don't let him do a bait and switch. He wants to get you there and get your money. That's his job.

To tow my 03 cobra I assume I should be fine right? I take it to the track and some long distance shows from time to time and it is about 3hr ride.
The dealer is telling me that if not installed when truck is first built, you can not install the controller as an after thought. I call bs on that one.
I have a 2012 5.0 GT and I love it, I assume the 5.0 in these trucks are pretty close just less power.

I ended up getting the truck for $27,500 and a full tank if gas. Picking it up in about 2 weeks since it is a hike for me to go get it and I'm crazy busy. Can't wait to get it, first thing is a daystar leveling kit!

Thats a smoking deal on that truck, congrats! Also, the factory brake controller can be added if the vehicle has the towing package, (which yours does). I have a truck nearly identical to yours and it has the max tow package including the brake controller and it does not have the oversized mirrors.
Your truck has 3.73 gears. All FX4s from 2011-12 had 3.73 as the only axle ratio for the 5.0. You can have a TBC installed by the dealer. Guys have bought the part for about $100 online and installed it themselves easy. The tricky part is that the onboard computer has to be flashed to recognize the TBC. Some guys have gotten their dealer to do it for free(it takes a tech 5 min), some guys have had to pay an hour of labor-depends on the dealer. Also, if you are ever curious about what options a Ford vehicle has, just go to their website and view the window sticker for any car. Simply change the vin at the end of the web address and hit enter, and it will display the sticker for your vehicle instead. I have been able to do this on vehicles all the way back to 06, definitely nice tool to have when buying used. Congrats on the new truck!

Go here and put your VIN in right behind the equal sign and you will get your window sticker.

You can also get it from just click on the ford symbol.

Thanks guys, cant wait to pick it up. For some reason this dealer just wants noting to do with the brake controller so I am going to get it home then address it with my local dealer.
Does anyone have a article on how to instll the factory controller? I see that the FX4 has the E-locker, how do you guys like that? 9,300Lb is more then enough for me since the car, trailer, tools and people with a full tank of gas should be a toltal of around 6,600 to 7,000 at most.
Im shooting to get it this coming weekend, I am ordering the Daystar leveling kit for it right away and the brake controller
