for you guys who live up north..

i just recently moved to ohio from mississippi and needless to say we didint have snow down south. i was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks for keeping the rust down from driving on the salty roads. i see a lot of vehicles up here that have rusting fenders and frames. only thing i can think of thats not too tasking is just take it to a spray booth and spray it off real good underneath from time to time. you guys have anything special y'all do?

thanks

The best thing to do is get a cheap beater car for the winter and keep your truck off the salty roads.

Every year before winter I spray bar and chain oil inside all the body panels and everywhere underneath. It usually takes 4-5 gallons and it is messy. I have oil dripping out of my door handles and seams for months, but it works great at preventing rust. I still stop at the car wash and spray it off once or twice a week because I can't stand seeing it covered in salt.

yeah ive been looking at some cheap jeep cherokees, around $1000, to buy just for winter. still sucks cause my truck doesnt fit in he garage. if it was about 4" shorter it might.

MGDfan sent me a link for fluid-film. seems like it might be a pretty good investment so i can still drive it during the winter.

that sucks man, my truck BARELY fits in my garage. i have to back up to the wall and put the ebrake on so it doesnt roll forward. there is about 2" to spare from the front bumper hitting the door.

if i didnt have the leveling kit and taller tires it would probably just fit..but then the cb antenna would scrape all the time.

Spraying the underside should do you just fine. just make sure to get up under the bed and bed sides all the way.

For all the others who say buy a beater, I have to ask, you have a 4wd vehicle you are not willing to use when you have bad weather, so why did you buy a 4x4 in the first place?

If its only level, are you sure it wont fit? Mine in level, and I have 34.5 grapplers, and it fits in my standard 7' opening.

i need to replace the door motor so the door can go up all the way. i tried backing it in the other day and the back of the cab needs to be about 3-4 inches shorter to fit in. me and the fiance just moved in a few weeks ago so theres still plenty of home improvement projects to do. thats one of them. maybe if i can get the door to go up some more it would fit. i'll have to do some measuring before i try it again..

I've been saying fluid film for the past 2 years and few people take the advice. I would get a beater... I have a year left until I snag a new car and the truck will be stored. I'm so excited

Most door openers have adjustable stops my old one had upper and lower adjustments under the cover the one I have now has 2 very small screws on the bottom of the motor one sets the top stop and the other the bottom.
