As a reference point, the worst price I'm paying on a 2013 Lariat Screw is 14% off MSRP - this reflects Dealer Discount, Rebates & Incentives. My opinion is that you should be getting closer to 20% off a 2012 at this point.

I agree!

$45,640 MSRP
-$3,000 in rebates
-$2,191 in dealer discounts

Puts me right at $40,450.

Which is only 11% off MSRP.

THANKS FOR ALLL THE HELP EVERYONE!!!!

Stick to your instincts. My 2013 lariat has a higher MSRP and lower out the door price than yours. You either have plenty of room for negotiation or you have an unmotivated seller. Best thing I did was talk to 3 separate dealers - and let each know you're talking to other dealers.

Good luck!

When I just bought my truck, I emailed around 15 different dealers in the midwest. Once I got a great deal, I forwarded the emailed OTD quote to the next, and on. Out of the 15 dealers, I only had 2 that wouldn't email me the invoice, and just so happened they wouldn't even try to compete with the other quotes.

When I bought my truck, the whole deal was done through email. I did finally talk to them do give them a deposit though. I was shocked how many dealers were very willing to work on deals through email. It was great, no haggling bs or waiting on site. Easiest and smoothest purchase ever! Drove there, truck was ready, paperwork in 30min, and out the door!

I don't think there is a "dealer discount"? The only discounts there are is when the manufacture makes them. Unless dealer discount is another word for invoice.

You're suppose to get the invoice price first, then take the manufacture discounts off that. Then see if you can get some of the holdback off that. Then tell them 75 doc fee max, doc fees are a big upselling point. It costs them no where near what they want to charge.

Read the first post again. That's how much this dealer is willing to knock off sticker.

This dealer isn't willing to go anywhere CLOSE to invoice - he knows what he has and is holding out for profit. This is a Super Duty in a relatively scarce configuration, not a F-150 which he probably has 30+ sitting around the lot.

**UPDATE**

So I talked to the Texas internet salesman over the phone. Didn't go well. Since he said he was not allowed to show me the dealer invoice, I asked him the invoice on the truck and he did not want to tell me it. So I said OK well I have the truck showing a $42,100 Invoice which is $1,400 less than the price you are giving me. (They want to sell it to me for $43,500 before rebates.) So he gets all huffy and wants to know where I got that number, and I said I went on Edmunds.com and built an identical truck and that is the number I got, Also I had a dealer in town find an identically equipped truck, just a different color and they showed me the invoice sheet....

I could tell he was not happy I had circumvented his little not telling me the invoice game, So he says "well why are you calling me in texas and why don't you go buy that truck?" Soo I tell him its not my choice of color.

I then tell him that the dealer in town offered me Invoice price on the truck and would then add in the rebates and incentives without me even having to haggle. He said there was no way he would do that and that was pretty much the end of the conversation.

This guy was a total chump over the phone and would always do that annoying thing where they take an extra second or two to respond to you and your questions. And on top of that he kept referring to the truck as "HIS" truck.

I"m think of calling the dealer directly and talking to one of the lot salesmen and avoiding this internet salesman guy....

I traded in an 06 silverado Z71. I went to some local dealers and got an idea of what trade in value was, then upped the price and little and told the internet sales what I wanted. I ended up getting $1500 more than any local dealer was gonna give me on trade.

Also, if you have the VIN number of the truck in TX your looking at, go to your local dealer and give them some bogus story of what deal they are gonna give you, and they can look up the invoice and tell you what it is. All Ford dealers have access to the invoices on new trucks regardless where they are at.

See if the dealer in town will dealer trade for that truck.

It's not a rare combination. I have seen SCAB 6.2 lariat 4x4s on the lot here in the dallas area. You can order a 2013 exact truck you want for invoice-manufacture rebates. I would just do that or find another 2012 truck. Order from an area that has a slow economy. They will happly take just holdback as their profit. Talk to a fleet manager.

It may be a bit rare with that white platinum tricoat paint job.

You should be seeing at a minimum of 7000 off MSRP.

My 2012 Platinum screw ecoboost MSRP'd at 54,000, all said and done I'm at 44,000.

Dealer isn't going to trade for a truck a couple states over.

If a dealer won't show you invoice, move on to the next. I won't deal with BS, so that's an instant deal breaker on a truck for me.

Only dealing with internet sales helps some, also easier to get to a better price going that route as well.

yzf250 is right, I tried to see if they would trade and that was a definite NO.

This was an internet salesman I had talked to that was giving me the run around...

I'm kinda out of options as far as any other trucks so I'm still gonna try to get this one. After the new rebates and incentives come out on October 1st I'll give that dealership another car and I'll just talk to a normal lot salesman and see if I can get some legit deal.
