SuperCruzin's Phantom F-150 Build
I have been trying to "like" the polished SS telling myself it ties in with the rest, but the hue is slightly off... slightly yellow (the way you would expect it to look after it has been excessively heated) and I think that is what bugs me the most.
Looking good John. I am really torn about what I want to do with mine, that dark blue IMO is really a great color, but its going to be hard to figure out what to do with modding it. I don't want a bunch of chrome and I don't want a bunch of black.... The color palate is Dark Blue, Chrome, and Black (cover, cladding, windows, etc.). I am really struggling with the wheels, I really like my factory wheels and have yet to see any after market wheels that make sense or look good IMO. I like the wheels you went with, but I hate the center cap. I feel the same way you do about the step bars you went with, love the design, but not crazy about the finish. If you get them coated I will be anxious to see what they look like. Keep up the mods!
^ Thanks guys.
99and04,
I'm completely with you on the coloring. (and the center cap comment.) That's the same line I am trying to walk. I know what I want it to look like with the proper mix of everything, its just going to take me a little trial and error to get it there. Those wheels were not my first choice, the originals were back ordered and i did not want to wait. <- bad move. They aren't bad, they just aren't exactly what i was going for. I am kinda thinking about changing them.

Looking good John. I've been draggin my feet on the Line-X and I need to get it done....
I am anxious to see what you do with the wheels! Did you spray the step rails??? 11.5 MPG??? You been drag racing everyone?

My dealer is also somewhat of a friend. (Small town - I know him outside of Line-X) I asked him his thoughts on it and he seems to think it is. I do realize he is trying to sell Line-X, but this guy is a pretty straight shooter and I think he would have told me his honest opinion regardless. From what i understand, the "premium" is more of a final stage or top coat. It basically seals the pores of the line-x further strengthening it as well as stain proofing it. (no oil slick marks after an oil spill and such) I asked if it was something that was going to wear off with use and he said no. He told me it would always look just as it does now with that "fresh sprayed" appearance. (also what gives it the semi-gloss look)
Is it worth the extra money? That's personal preference. Basic Line-X is tough stuff and a great product. Because of the added features/benefits listed above, I felt it was worth it. The way I look at it is: Whats an extra $100 (I think it was) when you just dropped all that coin on a new truck?
Do it! you won't regret it. It looks great in person, the pictures don't do it justice. I am 100% happy with mine.
Nope, not yet. I need to have them sandblasted & primed before he will do it. That's on the to-do list. I did have him spray my receiver hitch though. It looks good, and I shouldn't have to worry about it rusting - ever - LOL. I need to dremel the trailer plug opening a little so I can slip the plug back in but I'll post a pic once everything is back on the truck - currently I have it along with all the other pieces of the rear bumper spread across our front room.
...mmmayybee... LOL. I have been having a little fun with it, not racing anyone though. In general, this town is not conducive to good gas mileage. You are lucky to go a quarter mile with out hitting a stop light or stop sign. (my work commute is right at 4 miles, and off the top of my head I can think of 16 places along the route where I "must stop". - and its that bad anywhere else you go around here too.) As long as I am driving in the city, good mileage ain't happening.

^ I didn't mean that in any kind of derogatory sort of way. That's just how I sold the idea to myself. I knew that if I didn't do it now, I would kick myself later and be bitter knowing I was $100 from what I actually wanted.
I know what you meant John, no worries.
Maybe my reply didnt quite come off how it sounded in my head. I was trying to say that the 100 bucks for extra protection and peace of mind is a good thing, and I would gladly go for it as well.
That second picture, the bottom part that got sprayed, was that sprayed because its an area that is prone to damage or rust? Your truck is the first that Ive seen get sprayed there.
Also, I hope you are having a great week so far, even though its only Monday!
