2009 STX with XLT Grill

I picked up a 2009 STX last week and just realized this weekend that the grill doesn't seem right. I believe the STX series had a body painted / gray grill - mine is definitely chrome. Can a STX be ordered with a chrome grill or do you suppose someone changed it? It almost seems like there's another grill under this one, but I haven't played with it enough to tell. Any thoughts?

The STX has a black plastic grille with the surround painted to match the body.

Looks sharp! Best of both worlds I think. Never liked the XLTs because of chrome bumpers.

Nice looking truck--same as my '08, minus the 4x4, and I put a black honeycomb XLT grille on mine.

Todd G ... Can a STX be ordered with a chrome grill ...
No.

... or do you suppose someone changed it?
Somewhere along the line of ownership, the matte black center with the PTM surround of the stock STX grille has been swapped for the XLT 3-bar chrome.

*Normal STX grille.

There's a ton of overlays on ebay that are just stuck on with 3m tape... if thats not what you have and you actually have a chrome grill... if you want the stock one I will have one forsale as soon as i order the chrome 6 bar...

gdmJoe... you seem like a grill expert... do you know if my stock 09 FX4 Surround will fit the 2010 Harley 6 bar insert? cause thats what I really want vs the Solid chrome 6 bar from the XLT also can that insert be ordered without the surround?

I'm starting to think this is what I have. Never gave that a thought. I'll have to take a better look tomorrow.

If you have the chrome overlay, I would just remove just the border of it.
