04-08 vs. 09-12 differences

Save for the engines and transmission, what other driveline/suspension/chassis/frame differences are there between the 04-08 n 09-12?

Havent spent much time in the new ones, but everything seems bigger and nicer on the inside, and the ride is better imo.

I love my 06, but if i could get a new one at a decent (cheap) price, i would in a heartbeat.

Bigger brakes starting in 2010 iirc, electronic power steering cab is longer on Screw, thinner metal I believe. There are quite a few changes, hard to think of them all. Hell I bet there some we don't even know. Just between my 2004 vs a 2006 there a quite a few changes. Bumper mounting, leaf spring quantity, suspension components, accents and what not.

Additionally, front lower control arms went from aluminum to stamped steel and the rear leaf springs were lengthened by 6".

And just to confirm, brakes were upgraded in 2010. 2009 uses the same brakes as 2004-2008.

Engines and transmissions were the biggest improvements for 2009+.

I wonder what the reason was unless it was just a cost cutting measure.

Excerpted from the 2009 F-150 sales brochure ....

A. THE WIDEST REAR LEAF SPRINGS IN THE CLASS ARE ALSO 6" LONGER to provide improved axle control, and balance ride smoothness with best-inclass load capability. The extra length also increases spring life, and the rear spring bushings have been re-tuned to improve ride quality.

B. NEW TWIN-TUBE SHOCKS at all 4 corners help deliver a more refined ride and improved control in various road conditions. Rear shocks are mounted outside of the frame rails to reduce body lean and enhance rear axle control.

C. A FULLY BOXED, LADDER-STYLE FRAME is the backbone of F-150’s class-leading capabilities. It also contributes to the quietest F-150 interior yet, and a smoother-than-ever ride.

D. FULLY BOXED CROSSMEMBERS are optimized for strength and are precisely positioned to create the new flat loadfloor.

E. THROUGHWELDED CROSSMEMBERS help create a highly rigid structure, which mitigates frame flex and contributes to more stable towing.

F. TUNED SHEAR-STYLE BODY MOUNTS help isolate the body from road vibration for a comfortable, quiet cabin.

G. HYDROFORMED FRAME COMPONENTS allow extremely tight tolerances for manufacturing consistency and enhanced structural performance for safety.

H. COIL-OVER-SHOCK FRONT SUSPENSION design includes control arm bushings for added lateral stiffness, yet the system delivers a smooth ride, crisp steering and excellent control.

RACK AND PINION STEERING..

In 2009 ford shaved off 600 lbs off the curb weight of the screw with the new body style and improved frame....also in 2009 the turn signals and some other electrical functions are now controlled through a smart junction box and canbus type communication is implimented....a bulb out warning system was also added.....the nav radio changed from a one piece unit to a two piece unit...the same crappy h13 9008 headlight bulbs were still used in the headlights and the reverse bulb was downsized to a 921....etc.....
