Sheet metal interchange/bodyman question.
Sheet metal interchange/bodyman question.
I just bought a 2010 F-150 extended cab with some body damage [I am a bodyman] When Ford brought out the "all new" 2009 up models I felt they were lying to us. The cab, doors, windows, roof and related parts look the same as the 04-08 to me. Is anyone up on this? Possibly a fellow bodyman?? Would an 08 door fit my '10 or an 07 roof panel?

They are the same, but only on the scab (extended cab) models. The 04-08 reg cab and screw models had the shorter front doors, while the scab doors were longer. In 09 ford stretched the screw out 6 more inches and put the longer scab doors on the front. They also ditched the mini half doors on the regular cab and put the longer scab doors on them too. So now there is only 1 size front door no matter what cab style you have.

Correct, nothing changed from 04-08 to 09-up on the scab cabs and doors. Also the 04-08 scab doors will fit 09-up screws and reg cabs.
The beds and fenders are obviously different. The cabs are the same (other than length on screws)
So Ford lied !
I thought so. I always noticed this as Ford was introducing the "all new" 09 trucks. I thought people are being fooled here and how stupid does Ford think we are.
You do realize they changed a decent amount on them besides bedsides and fenders right?
Yes, I know the frame was built stronger, cab was strengthened, newer versions of engines with improved gas mileage, etc, but it still was not "all new". All new is what happened between 96 and 97 or between 03 and 04.
