One only needs to re-read all of the relevant posts from Smokewagun to discover there are tangible benefits.
It's not just about power - and yes, there is some to be had - and not peak numbers. I'm talking area-under-the-curve improvements, Enhanced driveability, overall drivetrain refinement.
EVERY 2009+ I've driven stock - and I've tried ALL the variants - had unacceptable shifting, retarded & low shift points, and were unresponsive (a.k.a. known as a 'sled', lol). Compared to my tuned truck it was night & day. Absolutely no comparison.
Until you've actually driven one with high-quality custom tuning, you just can't be judging it. Sorry.
$400 against a $30K+ truck? For refinement, ability to make adjustments, enhanced towing, account for any mods, ability to be octane-flexible, reduced tranny slip, optimization/correction of a number of inherently conservative items in the stock calibration, BSFC improvements using premium fuels, etc, etc...... yes, it's worth it.
Don't fixate on dyno numbers - they are almost meaningless for comparison purposes unless the testing is extremely well-controlled. Otherwise they are just numbers and traces on paper, and do NOT properly convey the actual results in-vehicle.
Any good tuner will tell you this. Don't believe me? Don't care. Call Troyer - perhaps you'll believe him.
If not - yer loss. If you can't or won't justify the cost of one or two long-distance phone calls to address the ignorance - you are posting in the wrong forum. Instead you'll keep pissing & moaning. Incessently. To no end. While others will have moved on and enjoy theri custom tuning.
Good grief.
Yer truck. Yer money.

PS - *EDIT*
Before anyone asks "WTF is BSFC ?", here ya go: https://www.f150online.com/forums/1713397-post30.html
From this thread - which is entertaining in and of itself: Premium Gas Vs Regular Gas (SuperChips)
