5.0 gearing issue

Other than the nosiy injectors, the only neg complaint i have about the 5.0 is its gearing in automatic. I find that the trucks occasionally seems to be confused when shifting or trying to shift out of 1st gear. it tends to rev a bit, i find it happens mostly when im cruising at a normal speed and come up to a stop sign and perform a roll stop and continue to go at a normal speed.
Does anybody else have this issue with the 5.0, in manual mode its fine and love how it sounds, its just to tempting to have a heavy foot.

No noise and no shift issues.

Get some custom tunes, it will rid your tranny of it's nasty habits.

You have a sweet ride and you've spent some coin on her, just throw a few more bucks her way and she'll respond to your commands :-)

not so sure I would throw in some cheap tunes on an expensive ride. The noise and other things are more nick nacky annoyances rather than something serious. Also being that this tranny is relatively new, and you go ahead and tune it, then an issue arrises good luck with warranty. Stay away from tunes unless you know what your doing and have the money to pay somebody that does.

I have noticed this same thing in that very same situation. I may ask them next time I go by the dealership about it. No other issues with the tranny at all.

Do you just post the opposite of what everyone says?

How are these tunes cheap? it's not like i went down to walmart with my coupon book and got that for 99 cents.

How about you think for once before you speak.

My 5.0 doesn't seem to hunt or get confused. I do find that it tends to not want to upshift as easily, especially 5th to 6th when then trans is warmin up. Manual mode is to sloppy for me. It's too slow and it doesn't seem to shift as good as it would in D.

So many people are willing to throw some predator tuner on a vehicle or bolt some cheap device on a vehicle they work hard for to acheive really nothing. True performance gains are not gained by cheap bolt on and plugs ins, and when I say cheap I dont mean 99cent cheap, I just mean relatively cheap. If you want true gains you must replace entire compenents, add forced induction, etc.

No im not going against grain, just speaking logic. Its fun to mod things and go for it but just dont listen to the weekend mechanics on some forum before making up your mind. And you really have to think about aspects, is some canned tune that eliminates some noise or adds 7hp worth the money and what is it doing to the longevity of the vehicle? Are you doing something that the vehicle wasnt designed for. And to top it off these are high production vehicles built for the masses. If you want something that special you will pay double what ford charges or any manfacture chagres.

My 2011 does this on occasion too. If I come to a full stop for a second it doesn't hang up. I think it has gotten better over time. I'm just over 6k.

Other than this minor inconvience this transmission is awesome. Smooth shifts and easy to kick down. Much better than the R100 it replaced.

Same issue, very annoying. Had the trans reflashed a few months ago and it helped for awhile, but is back now. I wonder if it's a 6 speed tranny issue, as I noticed this same problem (although not as bad) on my 09 5.4l truck too.

Anyone finds a solution, please post here, as it is about the only thing I dislike on my truck.

Thanks.

custom tunes does not equal a crap *** predator. that is a generic POS that is not highly recommended here.

And who said they wanted a 50% HP gain? No one. A mild HP improvement while allowing the transmission to shift correctly.

logic? go read your post, they are far from logical.

7 hp? go look at the dyno results. you are gaining much more than 7 through out the entire rpm.

vehicle wasn't designed for more hp? then why does ford warranty certain superchargers (no i'm not agreeing w/ your idiotic comment above) so if they can handle 150 more hp than stock, i think they can handle 25 from a tuner which improves fords factory tune which is required to work as best as possible from mexico to northern canada.

Let me know what ford truck thats stock comes with a blower? And the ones that do like Roush are warrantied from Roush not ford. And a 5-10hp gain is not really indicitive of anything, as air temp, oil temp, fuel, the dyno its self can make these variances. LIke I said if you or anybody thinks that some custom tune on a truck is worth it go for it, but its not always the answer and there could be unwarranted side effects. If you are reffering to the 5.0 in the mustang being built to handle 150hp while that might be true, that engine is not entirely the same as what is in truck, FYI. And anybody knows that maxing out an engine by slapping a blower on it will in the long run end its life a lot sooner than one that didnt have one.
