I have had many vehicles with leather and have always liked it better than cloth.

On my truck I noticed that the passengers seat is some what hard and feels like it is getting brittle. The drivers seat is nice and soft. I took it to a local dealer and they put conditioner on it which of course did nothing. I believe this is going to be a problem in the future so it will go back again until they fix it.

The problem with dealers fixing seats and other things like this. Is they view as wear and tear. Wear and tear isnt necessarily covered under a warranty. For a warranty claim you almost need to have a comple failure.

THem conditioning it one time won't fix that you need to condition it on a regular basis, as well as clean it. The dirt oils and dust and what not will break the leather down over time.

use your running boards and don't slide off of the seat, keep them clean and moisturized ... they don't have a poly urethane covering thats bonded leather on cheap couches... leather is skin when you wash your hands sometimes they get dry right after right? your leather is the same when you clean it you need to condition it after. (one part cleaner/conditioners are no good they liquify the dirt and help it get deeper into your colour coat/dye). I repair way more cloth seats than leather seats but you have to maintain the leather and it will treat you right.

I haven't had any issues with my leather. I will second the statement that they are cold in winter and warm in summer, but that's why I got heated and cooled seats. I also have the bluing from the dye on my jeans rubbing off onto the seats. I wrote it off to getting the adobe colored seats.

leather seat looking bad...

I love everything about my 2000 F-150 except the seat. I've had the truck 13 years & now have 148,000 miles on it. The leather seat is really starting to look bad & has never been comfortable! I'm thinking about getting the upper leather part re-upholstered with matching vinyl & extra padding / $400.00.

At the end of the day, it is your fault and I doubt that Ford will cover it... not trying to be rude but it is your fault. If you are just sliding out of the seat every time then you are going to get pre-mature wear. You also have to think about what type of jeans you are wearing...are you wearing regular jeans or are you wearing jeans with big metal buttons and designs on your back pockets? Women's jeans especially will tear seats up with the rhinestones that they are putting on them now a days. Like stated above step onto the running board and don't slide out of the truck, and take care of them. clean them and condition them and they will last longer than cloth and not stain nor trap nasty smells like cloth will over time.

Yes leather is hot in summer and cold in winter. That's why they make seat warmers and coolers. I use mine all year round. My seats are in a 2011 and they are beige. Unfortunately they are staining with my black leather gear and blue jeans. I figured it would when I bought the truck, but the one I wanted (with black leather) would have resulted in more fights between the wife and kid so I'll suffer with the discoloration over the constant fighting.

Other than that the leather has normal wrinkles in it but the truck only has 5k miles.
What I noticed is that only the top part of the seat is leather. The rest is vinyl.…
That is a failure of the coating ont he leather, and Ford should take care of it if it is still under warranty.

Understood! Through the years I have cleaned/condition the seat but getting in/out for the last 13 years is showing the wear. The stiching is coming loose on the passenger side. I did find a nice looking seat cover on 'seat covers unlimited' for $235. I may just do that for now. The rest of my interior is holding up well & still looks nice!

Mine do the same thing; "Magic Eraser" takes the blue right out.

I've had two seat cover replacements over the years (performed under the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty).

seat cover

My seat cover finally came in from 'seatcoversunlimited'. I'm going to try to put in on this week-end. Got to work also...more money for more toys!
