I asked him why did he do that. His reply was that he did not care about the trucks. He said he wished they would burn up. Wonderful person.
I wonder if your safety compliance dept would like to know about this guy and his 'tude about safety?

Why the FX2 sticker? It makes no sense to me. You guys know what FX4 originally stood for????? It stands for "Fly by 4 (FX4)" meaning you can shift into 4X4 on the fly. Thats what it stood for when it first came out. With that said, why FX2? Fly by 2 makes no sense.

These days I think that meaning has changed. Now it's all about looks and appearance packages. The logic behind the original engineers has gone away over the years. Don't get me wrong. The FX4 is still a wonderfully designed truck. I don't see myself owning any other model F150.
You make a good point.. but in other industries FX stands for Special Effects. I wonder if that is the meaning they "drifted" towards?

Here is a simple explaination and kinda jives with what I've thought too.

Mitch

For 2008, the Ford F-150 lineup includes three body styles: regular cab, extended cab (SuperCab), and crew cab (SuperCrew). Three box lengths (5.5 ft., 6.5 ft. and 8.0 ft.) and two box styles (Styleside and Flareside) are available. A total of nine trim levels are offered and one of them is the higher-end XLT trim level.

The base trim is XL, with 17-inch steel wheels, vinyl seats and air conditioning (in SuperCrew). Next up is STX, with the addition of air conditioning; body-colored bumpers; sportier wheels; cloth 40/20/40 split bench seat; and upgraded sound system with CD changer and auxiliary audio jack. The XLT model adds chrome exterior trim, upgraded cloth interior, cruise control, and full power accessories. .

Standard power for the base trim XL, STX, XLT and FX2 Sport (regular cab only, not available with Flareside) is the 4.2-liter OHV 12-valve V-6 engine that produces 202 hp at 4350 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 3750 rpm, with power transferred through a 5-speed manual transmission.

In addition to the XLT, there is the FX4 (4-wheel drive), which adds underbody skid plates, heavy-duty shocks, and re-tuned springs. The Lariat trim level is decked out in brushed aluminum and wood accents and includes a power driver seat, leather upholstery, trip computer and automatic climate control. The fancier, and new, Lariat Limited trim adds a monochromatic White Sand paint scheme; 22-inch alloy wheels with body-color accents; polished running boards; 2-tone leather upholstery; unique instrument cluster trim; and smoked taillights. King Ranch trim (SuperCrew only) includes 2-tone exterior paint, Western saddle leather upholstery, and wood grain interior accents. The Harley-Davidson model includes monochromatic black or black and copper paint; 22-inch alloy wheels; sport tuned suspension; black and copper leather seating; and a Harley-Davidson badge.

There are many different variations of America's best-selling vehicle and pickup truck--the F-Series. For more information, specs, reviews, previews of new- and used-vehicles in addition to blogs, photos, videos and quality ratings, please visit JDPower.com.

Fx4
set F=4

Yal are over thinking what it means. It was designed to be competition against the z71. now it's just a appearance package. the z71 has kept to it's roots, the fx4 not so much.

when the fx4 came out it was comparible to a Z71 now it's definitely not because ford made it into a appearance package and forgot what it was designed for.

some of you guys are too horny towards ford. stop popping those blue pills, let the blood rush back to your heads and have an open mind towards other vehicles.

That line gave me my first good laugh of the morning -- thanks dude

Yes, when i got my newest XLT 2 weeks ago, Chevy , GMC and Toyota were in the running. I was just shopping for the best deal. When i realized that the others were not that much cheaper (and more $ in the case of the Toyo) - i went for big blue again.

I grew up Chevy dad worked for GM. Had chevy cars and trucks till 3 years ago when they pissed me off. Still have a camaro but but have a ford truck. I would never go Jap. But now days for me it's the best price that fits my needs ie performance, mpg, etc. Last truck I bought in 2007 was a chevy and at the time I thought chevy had the best bang for the buck. When my 2011 is due I will shop chevy and GMC again.

Z71 is only skid plates and off-road shocks. I had one prior to my Larat. My lariat rides 100 times better. I'll consider other brands, when or if they ever make a better truck. Feel free to trade yours and find a Chevy forum.....

Why I went with an FX2

I went with the FX2 for a couple of reasons.
1. I like how all of the body panels are painted to match. Its just very sporty.
2. I live in Texas, I dont live on a farm or hunt so I have no use for a 4x4.
3. I like the Interior, plus on the 2012 they added A/C seats.
If not for those reasons I would have gotten a Lariat. Plus I get most all the amenities of the Lariat for about $2K cheaper, with the FX luxury package.

Look at your web browser and tell me what website you are on. Of course people are going to be biased on this FORD website

Straight from Chevy's website-

The available Z71 Off-Road Package includes:

Z71 Off-Road suspension
46mm twin-tube high-pressure gas-charged shocks
Off-road jounce bumpers
Skid Plate Package with a frame-mounted transfer case shield
GM segment-exclusive automatic locking rear differential providing added grip when you need it
Bright sill plates
Available Z71 Appearance Package: 18" aluminum wheels, body-color mirrors and door handles, body-color grille with chrome insert, Z71 gauge cluster, bright sill plates, unique Z71 decals, and Rancho® shocks.

The FX4 comes with standard skid plates, off road tuned shocks, and an electronic locking rear differential. The reality is they are both the same thing targeted at the same people-incrementally more off-road capability for weekend warriors. If you want a true off road machine you buy a raptor or a jeep.

yea but the z71 is still a added package to any model, the fx4 is it's own package with it's own personality which is not how it started off.

and i'm not taking a raptor offroad where i go, it'd break way to quickly. and a jeep Landcruiser FTW!
