lol, anyways. EB 365hp your 4.6 248hp, EB torque 420, 4.6l 294.

New 3.7l vs has 302hp and 278 torque with a towing capacity of 5900lbs in 4x4 vs 11,300 that the EB has.

Its not all about MPG its about capbility. Hope you werent serious about your post

I traded a 4.6 truck that I owned for 13 years for my current '11 EB and there is absolutely no comparison between the two. The new truck is over 500 lbs heavier and gets 15% better mileage in town and 25% better on the highway. I don't think there are words to describe the difference in power between a 4.6 and the EB.

straight 6 vs. v6 and diesel vs. gas. how you can compare the two and expect to prove a point is beyond me.

right there proves my point that the ecoboost is the new cummins as far as owners mentalities go....

When the EB first hit the dealer I work at, I said no way. After I drove both 5.0L and the EB, I decided on the EB and no regrets at all. IMO, either engine will get the job done.

I wasn't trying to compare, just stating the fact that they both have 6 cylinders and are turbo. Can anyone deny that? I get lashed for that statement but all day long everyone is comparing a forced induction 6 cyl to a larger naturally aspirated 8cyl and think they fit in the same category. I personally think they are both outstanding engines, but are different animals and should be thought of as such. My owner mentality is that I have a great truck with a great engine that gets the job done and is a blast to drive.

All I was really trying to point out is how ignorant a comment about the amount of cylinders an engine has somehow translates into it's entitlement to be in a truck. It was really just all in fun.

I agree with you I just thought you were kind of saying, yeah but a cummins.

Heres the deal with vehicles, people get stuck on certain things and certain brands and makes, specially older people who have been driving a paticular model for a long time. Its the same with oil, people would rather give up their new born child than switch oils at times. Somestimes it hard for people to grasp the concept that a smaller displacement engine outperforms a bigger one.

It's definitely not that, the import world has definitely shown a small motor can out perform american muscle.

Most on here said the eco wasn't any more impressive than the 5.0 and that's why they got the 5.0

they don't tow, which how many eco owners who are bragging about it's towing actually tow a real load. Probably as many diesel owners that tow a real load, not many in recent years.

mpg is a wash i can't remember a v6 anyone i've known has had that got better mpg than a v8.

another reason, which motor is less likely to have something go wrong being a new design? probably the 5.0 since it has less components. But both are still too new to known which one will be more problem free in 5 years

Their are pros and cons to each motor (yes my comments are directed more towards your post and the 5.0), if you got the eco great but assuming everyone is stuck in old ways is pretty ignorant. Theirs a reason multiple engines are made, maybe yal should be complaining about the owners with the 6.2 since they had to pay extra to get it over the eco...

All the apples to oranges comparisons aside, I love my EB but one thing did just come to mind. About a month after I bought my EB I went by the dealership and they still had my lifted 2007 FX4 and I took it for a drive. This might sound crazy but it really felt like a truck. The EB is smooth, quiet, and powerful but as soon as I started up that 5.4 I really did miss the rumble of a V8, I felt like I could drive through a house if I was so inclined. So like others said if you want to feel like your in a muscular truck get a 5.0, if you want great power and a quiet engine get an EB. Basically if you buy an F150 you are guaranteed a fantastic powertrain.

I ordered and owned a 2011 EB for 7 months....after it spent 23 days in the shop over that time frame, trying to fix the array of issues/problems it had, I traded it in on a 5.0.....been happy ever since.

Replaced my '07 FX4 w/5.4 with the '11 EB. Only complaint is that it sounds like a Camry! Pull a good sized boat regularly and EB rocks. Love my EcoBoost!

Well I would agre with you the 6.2 IMO is waste of money however you look at it. Your not getting that much more and more of a gas hog. I would be worried about either engine equally. Minus the turbos a turbo engine does not an engine say like a blower would.

I would still stick to people being stuck on old ways. Many people however you want to slice it or mask it think a bigger louder engine is more powerful, now that is ignorant IMO. I bought the EB because its a better tow performer, if I had to tow any more weight it bout a diesel in the garage, any less weight I would have went 5.0.

I've had a 98 long bed 4.6L, 2001 long bed 5.4L, 2008 long bed 4.6L and now a 2011 5.0L SCAB. The 5.0 is by far the best motor I've owned. 7000 miles.

Although when I first got it I would say 21 mpg going 70mph. When the winter weather came I think my mpg went down to 18 or 19. any feedback?

Jerry
