2010 F150 XLT 4x4 Low Question

I have a question that I could not find an answer for on this forum or my user manual.

I just bought a 2010 F150 XLT 4x4. The 4 wheel drive system is turn **** actuated. When I go into 4 Low, I get the 4 Low light on the dash (it engages) but the Advancetrac light also flashes alternately. What I mean is that the 4 Low light is on, then the advancetrac light comes on, then 4 Low, and on and on.

Is this normal for 4 Low? I can't find anywhere in the owner's manual if the advancetrac light should flash in this situation, nor can I find it on the internet.

Any help would be appreciated, my last truck was a '97 F150 4x4 that didn't have all these fancy lights.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Anybody? Anybody mind trying it out on their truck and tell me if it does the same thing.

Thanks

I don't recall my traction control light coming on in 4low unless you select it yourself. Have you tried pushing the traction control button on the dash?

I tried pushing the traction control light, but it just keeps alternating between 4 Low indication and the traction control indicator. I also tried turning the traction control off before going into 4 low. It does the same thing once 4 low is engaged.

4 low does engage though. The traction light does not come on with 4 hi engaged, or 2 hi engaged.

I just traded my 02 in for an 2011 Scab 4x4 and have been reading the manual.

I believe the flashing Advancetrac light is telling you that Advancetrac is disabled while you are in 4low. Advancetrac is automatically disabled when in 4low, at least for 2011 models.

I concur, I also saw that on the on dash "help screens" It will disable it when in 4 low.

Right, but he has a 2010. I will have to check and see if mine does it or not automatically. That is what it does when you are in 4lo and have traction control disabled, just not sure its automatic. The few times I have used 4lo I think I already had it off.

Well, today I saw a guy in a parking lot with the same truck. My luck it was a 2010 model as well. Asked him if 4lo did the same thing mine does, he wasn't sure because he never put it in 4lo before. We put it in 4lo and it does the same thing. When 4lo is engaged the display flashes between 4x4 low and the traction control symbol.

Thanks for everyone's inputs.

I went back and checked, and mine too does it. It also gave me a clunk sound when engaging, but hopefully that dosnt mean anything.
