3rd brake light ebay

Anyone install this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...302#vi-content

If so, how was the fit and light brightness at night?

Have had it installed for 3months now. Comments:
  • despite what the ad indicates, it DOES NOT "Install...using existing factory plug". *It needs to be spliced into the bulb socket wires -or- (as I did) fabricate a connector that plugs into the bulb sockets.
    .
  • fit is
    .
  • brigtness (day|night) is *CAVEAT: Since I have a hard tonneau cover I only wired-up the stop-light.
FYI ... The manufacturer is PILOT and the part # is TB-205S.

So did you add a connector to the ends of the 3 wires so it plugs into the factory connector that holds the oem blub?
If not, please discribe in a little more detail what you did there.

This seller wants $49.99US to ship 1 of these lights to Canada via USPS.

Is this guy greedy or am I not in touch with reality....

Yes. Except that since I didn't intend to use the cargo light(s), it only involved 2 wires ( red and black ) and 1 connector.
  • bought a light socket pigtail that matched the existing.
  • converted it to a male ...
    • 2 sections of 14guage copper wire stuck into the connections in the socket.
    • then filled the socket cavity with silicone adhesive (NOT sealant).
    • after setting-up, trimmed the 14guage copper wire prongs to the appropriate length.
  • attached the red / black wires to the male socket (twist, solder, shrink-wrap).
The new, male socket now plugs into the bulb socket and the two are held together via a lengthwise zip-tie.

NOTE: I'm **** about cutting / splicing into OEM wiring and trust me ... THERE IS NO READY-MADE MALE COUNTERPART TO THE BULB SOCKET (other than a bulb). YA! I LOOKED!!!!!

To use the cargo light(s), you'd need another socket pigtail and make a male socket with 1 14guage copper wire pin. The lead for that pin would be attached to the white wire and the male socket would plug-into either of the cargo light sockets as white <> white. *Ground is shared with the stop light and their hot is shared between the 2.

As you probably already know ... Some will not ship at all to CA.

FYI ... That's the best price that I've seen and MUCH less than I paid in Aug'2011 from another eBay seller.

If you're up-to a leap-of-faith let me know ....
  • provide me funds.
  • will purchase item.
  • you provide funds to cover shipping co$t.
  • will ship the item.
But 1st to determine the UPS shipping co$t ... NEED YOUR CITY -AND- POSTAL CODE, eh?
