Revers Aids WTH

This is a bit irritating, but not enough to go to the dealer for a special trip and complain. I've noticed on numerous occasions that the reverse aids (marker lines, etc) randomly turn off. They'll be on when I get out of the truck but when I get back in they have turned themselves off. I can't figure out why they keep turning off. Since I can't figure out what is causing it or reproduce it, it is pointless to take it to the dealership. If I could figure out what causes it then I can go and say, when I do x, y, z the reverse aids turn off, fix it please. Anybody have any ideas why they keep turning off?

I have noticed that mine turn off after a couple restarts. Annoying, but it's something I can deal with for now. The guidelines on my dad's '11 stays on all the time, but he doesn't have the fancy message center.

My '11 just started doing it for the first time in 5 months. I will turn them back on and it will last for a few days then go off. I looked in the menu and it even says "off." For almost 5 months straight I did not have a problem. If I find anything out, I will share it.

Mine has done that randomly from day one. I had asked the dealer about it when it when in for a bad battery, they thought it could have been form that but it started doing it again a few weeks ago. No idea why but its annoying. I didnt think I would use the camera feature much and now when I hop in a car without it and go to back up I see how much I really have adapted to using and relying on it.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one. It must be ghosts in the system.

Are you using the camera with the NAV or mirror? I wonder if it has a difference.

I can tell you this - with my '09 I would come out periodically and find that the computer "reset" itself. The avg mpg was reset to 0, my trip was 0, etc. In two years, it reset itself maybe a dozen times or so. It was most obvious because I usually kept the screen up that said "Miles to Empty" and when I got in the truck after the reset it would be back on my Trip A screen.

I upgraded to '11 recently. I only have 1500 miles on it though but the problem hasn't yet resurfaced.

I'm wondering your computers are somehow resetting and this setting is a part of the effected issue.

If it were me I'd at least take it to the dealer and get the problem documented.....that's the best way for Ford to know that there's a problem.....

no, refers to the rear view camera in the tail gate. their are guide lines to help you judge distance if you have them which turn off randomly for all of us.

Not that it matters but is the image in the rear view mirror or the Nav unit or both. I got a letter in my truck when I bought it from Ford stating my truck was selected randomly to be tested by Ford. It had 15 extra miles. My truck was built in Feb `11. I have to say my truck is flawless so far.

I have the nav with the reverse camera. Sorry for the improper wording. The people that are having the problem, do they have the Nav system or not? If they dont have the nav could the problem be in the mirror?

I have a 2011 with Nav and backup camera - only 350 miles so far, but it's worked fine for me so far.
