Has anyone done a conversion to ambient lighting?

So is this an OEM thing, or did you just add LED's everywhere?

I'm kind of confused. Is the bezel including the cup holders and the front part one piece?

Nasty,
Yes, the bezel includes the dual cupholder, smaller storage tray and oem ambient light switches. There are 2 switches, one for color changes and off the other switch for light intensity (note the intensity switch will not function because the control module that comes with the Ford Interior Light Kit is not the same as the control module that's installed from the factory in the high end models).

Does anyone know if the light kit has the same options in led color. I have a platinum and am not happy with the intensity in the foot well. I wanted to order replacement LEDs as parts for the oem kit but can't find the part numbers.

Curious if I buy the accessory kit, would I be able to splice in just the front and rear footwell LEDs and have them change color just as the oem with double the light output.

The Ford Interior Light Kit comes with 2 egg shape and 2-7mm (I think that's the diamension) LEDs. They are 4 wire, 7 colour LED bulbs like the oem's come. The wire colors from the kit are the same as oem wire colors except for 1 wire which is black on oem and brown on kit ( or vice-versa) either way those wires go together when splicing.

I spliced mine to extend the wiring with no issues so I can't see why you would'nt be able to do the same to add lighting to your factory ambient lighting system.

I wish Ford would sell the individual LED bulbs cause I'd love to place them in a couple more areas inside the cab.

Hope that answers your question.

Where are the oem front footwell LEDs positioned?

Here is a kit on eBay. This is Tasca Ford's eBay account...

NEW OEM INTERIOR LED LIGHTING KIT FORD LINCOLN MERCURY 2008-2012

If this isn't the specific one you're looking for, scroll back up and grab the part numbers and contact Tasca Parts. I've ordered quite a few parts from them and they have been able to get me pretty much everything I've asked for and cheaper than most other Ford parts places.

If your looking for the generic Ford LED kit then the link posted by TwoBlocked will do. However if you want more of the oem appearance with the dog bone cup holder light ring then you will also need to order the flowthrough center console cover for a Platinum and swap out what you need.

I'm glad I found this thread before I paid the dealer to install a kit. Those LED's illuminating the door handles are a great idea.
