I was thinking the same thing, but I'm stuck here, so what can I do... I don't always get that kind of mileage, but I routinely see tanks that average in the 19's and 20's when I do at least 70% highway. The last one at 23.6 was real, but not common. I think my next best was 22.5 or something over 120 miles of mostly highway driving. It does take patience though. It is very tempting to let loose and hot rod around here and there. When you do, you can watch the good mileage drop before your eyes.

I find that there are two things that really help with this truck to squeak out the extra few MPG. Keep cruise control at about 68, keep the tires @ 40 PSIG all the time, unless you plan to see rain/snow/ice, then back to factory specs.

OK, so I really haven't seen anyone put up numbers for cross country driving. So, here you go. I drove from Va to NY and back. My first tank I averaged 20.5. I drove just over 400miles using only 20gal. I hand calculated it and checked the difference between what the pump showed I used and what the computer says I used. I found that the computer is right on with highway driving and about 1 gal off in city (computer show less fuel consumption leading to higher computer MPG calc.). Straight and level I was looking at about 24MPG with the cruise set at 60, 23MPG with the cruise set at 65, 20MPG with the cruise set at 70. The A/C was on and the windows were up. I wasn't hauling anything and I found that if you keep your foot out of boost, it will help A LOT. Once I got into the mountains the readings will obviously vary from driver to driver, but I drove up through mid PENN with the cruise set between 60 and 70. It occasionally downshifted to 5th on some hills, but stayed in 6th for the most part. I averaged 20MPG. I was happy to get at least 20MPG in a truck that could pull 11.3k. I'm driving a 2012 FX4 Screw, 6.5 bed with the max tow package. I am extremely happy and agree with what FORD has been putting out about this truck.

Dude, the cruise set at 60 How did you NOT fall asleep. Hell, you'd get passed by truckers flipping you off here in SoCal Your numbers seem to match up.
On my way to Vegas with California fuel I got 18.6 averaging 75-78 mph. Going home with Nevada fuel I netted 19.4mpg 78-80mph avg. These were striaght freeway numbers, less than 1% of the miles were city.

Just finished a town to town run tonight. Two lane highway, one small town with 2 stoplights in the middle. Stayed at 55mph on highway, cruise on. 2109 total miles on truck (not even broken in). Put a tonneau cover on yesterday night,

18:46 min
15.5miles
0.5 gal used
27.1 avg mpg

In Iowa, 96 degrees on the indicator, very light rolls for hills, light breeze.

More importantly, just got down with two days of sales calls. 940 miles, pounded hard on the interstate, running through little towns, etc... 19.2mpg overall. That is a solid 5mpg higher than my 2009 I just traded in on this.

I'm VERY happy with the EB!! 2100 miles in 12 days, many more to come!

From a trip I took in May: "I just got back from a trip to the Tampa area. From my house to there was 535~ miles. I went down 19 so there was quite a bit of stop and go through the towns. My average mileage there and back was 19.4 including a bit of driving in the Bay area traffic. On the freeway my cruise was set at 75. On 19 outside of the cities my cruise was set at 70. Considering my last truck got less than 16 mpg @ 70 mph doing the same trip I am rather pleased."

I just did a LONG road trip... 1800 miles all together... Effingham, IL to Kingsland, GA (basically Florida on the Atlantic coast). I was running hard through most parts upwards 80 mph probably averaging 8 over the posted speed limits. 19.6 for the whole trip. Very pleased with the mileage at those speeds.
