2011 Lariat in the shop with only 1800 Miles

The wife was sitting in the truck while i ran into a store, she moved the power seat forward about an inch and heard a pop noise from under the seat.

When I got back into the truck the radio and ac was no longer working. I looked under the seat and notice one of the wiring harnesses was pinched between the seat bracket and the floor...

I drove to the dealership and they are suppose to try and "get right on it". When I went to lock the doors I also noticed the keyless entry was not working....

I am just happy I was within a few minutes of the dealer when it quit. I live three hours away and was within 15 minutes when it happened... I am sure it was just a fuse but without removing the harness from the pinch it is in i didn't want to cause more damage..

I feel your pain. I've been driving Ford products since 1983 and have driven/purchased new Ford's since 1992. I am very disappointed in the quality of our 2011 trucks. It seems the options get better and the quality gets less and less. Maybe Ford needs to go back to "Quality is Job 1". It appears their lack of quality control is becoming a concern.

I think they are doing very well. I'm willing to bet there are more sensors in the seat of a 2011 versus a whole 1996-era truck. Comparing electrical failures or problems versus the number of circuits and wiring in that thing is beyond staggering.

No, that's just lack of attention to detail pinching a wiring harness. Not good.

Correct. It should have been caught on the line by QC personnel.

It shouldn't been pinched in the first place if the guy installing the seats had paid better attention to what he was doing.

It happens - nobody's perfect.

It is now out of the shop and everything seems to be working. I wish they would have replaced that harness instead of using electrical tape but I will moniter it and see if the tape starts letting loose in this 100 degree heat...

Is the inside of your truck really sitting at 100 degrees when you drive it?

Yea, QC needs an over hall, my truck came with my fog lights hanging down in front of the tires, with bulbs in the housing and on the wiring, the interior panels were not screwed down. It rattled all the way home and had to have a local dealer reinstall most of the panels. Also when driving the road and I hit a bump my drivers door rattles, my 04 F150 with 78K miles on it didn't rattle at all. Not happy spending 47K for a new truck and it rattles like a snake with 8500 miles on it.

there is something in the back rattling on mine, It thought it was the spare tire but it is not. I guess maybe it is the the tailgate step. My 10 had the step but didn't rattle so i don't know...

I would almost bet that if we could see all of the warranty repairs per the total number of units sold you're probably going to find that Ford is still doing the best. Of course you only have to be on the short end of the stick so to speak to appreciate the quality issues we're hearing about.

I hardly got out the dealers lot when I discovered an issue. I went around the block and drove right back into the service department. I think my truck has 8 miles on it.

I've worked as a Mitsubishi and KIA Service Writer and Manager so I am aware of Quality issues, LOL...

I do believe Ford has the best vehicles on the market. I am also aware that Ford is cutting cost as much as possible. When you have new owners finding pinched wires under the seat, door panels with loose hardware, speakers with loose hardware and numerous other Quality Control (QC) issues, it makes me wonder if Ford is going in the wrong direction so-to-speak. I remember having numerous rattles and then some on my 200 mile '05 Titan Crew Cab SE. The powertrain combo was awesome; their QC was/is below par.

As far as rattles and squeaks go, my '10 XLT 4x4 Scab doesn't have any.

We officially have the worst roads in the USA where I live.

My son was riding with me today and while we were knocking our heads on the headliner cuz of the roads, he was commenting on the fact there aren't any interior rattles or squeaks and how tight the truck seemed to be.

My '78 E-150 was the biggest rattle trap I've ever owned. If the wind blew hard and rocked the van, it would squeak and rattle, terrible, constantly.
