Truck went in the shop this morning

Hey everyone, I just figured I would let everyone know that my truck went into the dealership today. I am having them look into that ticking type noise that seems to be common with the new 5.0. I will keep everyone posted on what they tell me and what they do to fix it.

I think there is a TSB for this. Must be a common problem.

Just to update everyone, they are waiting on the timing chain tensioner. The serpentine belt was not the real issue I guess. So I am going on two weeks without my ride. I will post exactly what was done when I pick her up and have the paperwork.

Describe the ticking. I think I may have heard this today, but not sure. I was hearing it more from inside the truck vs outside.

The truck had to be a normal operating temp. When I would shut it off for a few minutes(getting gas, or something from the conv. store), it would make a ticking type noise for a couple of minutes and then go away. It almost sounded like a rubbing or slapping so a belt seemed reasonable. It turns out that the timing belt or chain must stay loose enough to make that sound. I heard from them yesterday and the said they expect the part on the 17th. I hope so as I dropped it off on the 2nd. I was given a 2011 Dodge Dakota to drive as a loaner, but I miss driving my truck.

Well I picked up my truck on Wednesday afternoon. 3 weeks to the day of waiting, but at least its back and not making any noise.
