This is kinda cool. Toyota and Ford to team up
Plus, diesels in other parts of the world don't have to meet the same emissions standards as in the US, causing a HUGE drop in MPG when they are fitted with emissions equipment to meet US standards. It takes a lot of tech to meet US emissions with diesels, and that tech is expensive! That is why diesels won't be the choice for passenger cars in the US for some time...until the cost to meet emissions comes down or gas prices go up even more.
I would say that is an exaggerated number.

Sorry, that number is in imperial gallons. Translated to US gallons thats 60 mpg. Still quite a feat.
And Europe has stricter emissions standards than the US by far. The price of 87-octane in London is $9.78. You get taxed where you drive based on the amount of CO2 your vehicle develops. There are a number of reasons the cars in Europe aren't available here, one of which is demand. The United States is addicted to SUVs. According to the NHTSA, 48% of all registered vehicles in the United States are pick-up trucks. If you brought that tiny 3-cyl diesel over here and sold them, you would have a very narrow base of customers. Very recently Fiat has begun sales in the US with the new 500. Sales are VERY slow and so far I've only seen one- in Jacksonville. In Europe, the 500 is the most popular car. Ford has the right idea by having hybrid SUV/crossovers and full-size cars first- get Americans to like the idea of better fuel economy. That coped with the rising gas prices will force them to move to the newer technology.

.... and Ford has been flawless since the Model T
Give me a break.
As for the Run Away Toyota's. ....... Court Results. CNN Money "An intensive 10 month investigation into possible causes of unintended acceleration in Toyota cars found no fault with the automaker's electronic throttle control systems, the Department of Transportation announced Tuesday."

So your telling me people intentionally floored their car to get into an accedent and kill themself.
Yeah that sounds about right. Good theory !!
Do you belive everything on TV?
Ford doesn't need to Team up with Toyota to build a solid truck or SUV.

Or maybe I should post link to all of the Toyota recalls. OH wait there isn't enough space.
If their vehicles are so perfect why do they have so many recalls? Why are they recalling a the very parts that are in question? Use your handy dandy google search. How many gas pedals were recalled?
There are even recalls for frame corrosion........ what a joke
There is a reason the Tundra is about a 1000lbs lighter than my truck. It is not built to last.

I am mearly showing the results that were found in a legal court proceeding. Its not a theory.
Not once did I say "people intentionally floored their car to get into an accident and kill themselves."
Uh huh. Like Fords haven't had electrical fires? Like Fords haven't had spark plug blowout and breakage issues? Like Explorers didn't roll over when they had the problems with the Firestone tires? Like Fords haven't had gas tank straps rust out and break? What about the hydrolocks from bad gaskets and fuel injectors?
There is no such thing as a perfect motor vehicle, and there NEVER will be.
For all people like you who hate Toyota, I'll show you people who hate Ford.

Nobody is worshiping anybody...
We are just having a conversation. We get it your not into Toyota. Thats cool.
