Take it to the dealer and have them fix it under warranty. Ford really has cut back on a lot of their quality. It almost reminds me of the issue with Chevy in the 90's.

My truck is from the Dearborn truck plant here in Michigan, this seems to be a recurring theme with these trucks. I'm hesitant to let a dealership do body work on my truck, ill see what they say though.

I agree that the quality has dropped off a lot with Ford. My three complaints are:

1. Sync
2. Transmission Shudder
3. Annoying Tick On Startup (5.0 V8) - Even when the truck is warm. (tensioner?)

My old '02 F150 was a lot tighter than the '11.

My 2011 is from Dearborn and is not as well finished out as my 2005 was. The 2005 was built in Kansas City.

Bluejay -

Mine was made in Dearborn as well...

My '02 was made out in Virginia.

My '07 Blue Pearl STX SCAB had perfect paint. Except, under the hood where the blue paint was so light you could see through to the primer.

I got the truck back this evening. The body shop paint looks superb compared to the factory paint.

I have attached two links from my photo album. Sorry, I took them both with my phone. The defect in the first picture was almost the size of a BB under the paint. There were also 5 or 6 pieces of sand/dirt under the paint. The passenger side rocker is the same way except for the BB size defect.

You can see the shark skin paint at the top of the picture compared to the almost glass paint the body shop sprayed, blended and buffed.

I would have had higher aspirations for the ones built in Dearborn. My '08 came from there, and it has been a very solid truck, 84K in (so far).

My original Silver '09 was like this and in overcast sunlight looked great. In bright sun however, the hood and one door was a different color and the entire length of the bed (both sides) had tiger stripes. I returned it to the dealer a week later and received a replacement within 3 weeks.

The paint on my 2011 is flawless. Or at least I can't see any flaws. It was born in KC.

I saw a showroom 2011 in black. I was very disappointed. Orange peel all over the thing. A friend on another forum took close-up shots with a D-SLR camera of his mom's 5.0L Mustang badge. It too was black and you can see nothing but the bumps of orange peel all around that badge.

Compared to my 1998, these trucks have the paint quality of....trucks! They put in these "urban warfare" packages (DVD, Sat nav, heated seats, moon roof) they need to have a tough paint job to match!

Some day I want to have my 04 repainted... same color but properly. I hate orange peel. Makes it look cheap. I'd rather pay a few grand than have the quality of paint trucks have. And it's not just Ford

Don't worry, our 2010 Mustang GT convertible has orange peel to as well as most of my previous vehicles. Nissan has the worst paint. My 2005 Pathfinder had rust spots all over at 48,000 miles and the Titan paint was chipping. Just be glad it's not as bad as Nissans.
