Brand new truck.. Line-X on the bedsides

So part of my deal on my truck was to get the bed line-x'd. The dealer came and picked up the truck yesterday morning. Dropped it back off about 330. I didn't get to go over it like I would normally do things because I was at work trying to finish up the day. Last night I did a couple walk arounds and found over spray and what looks to be drips of the line-x material on both sides of the bed.

Can this stuff be removed without damaging the paint? Who should I go after first? The dealer or the Line-x people?

I would notify the dealer of the crappy work but talk to the line x people about the problem. You may be able to have them clean up their shotty work.

the overspray is common... i wouldnt be too worried about it messing up your paint. they sand/scuff your bed to get it to adhere to what was painted. a quick scrape with a fingernail should take it right off.

if there are drips in the line-x, that's just a sloppy job by line-x. if it really bothers you i imagine they will grind it down and re-spray it.

I didn't notice drips in the bed. These are drips down the bedside on the outside of the bed. I tried scraping them with my nail. No soup.

Call the dealer. I had my Line-X done and they masked and taped everything off. Heck I have seen paint work not prepped as well. You should be OK as long as you act fast before it cures all the way.

Gobs on the outside of the bed?

That is unusual for Line X jobs!

Here locally, they do great work and put their Line-X dealer emblem in the bed .... some under the line-X to make it more permanent. Pride.

Bummer.

That is very unusual for a line-x operator - line-x is really picky about their franchise holders. Go to the dealer and have them work it out with the installer. Dont wait, the longer it sits the harder it sets....

I have had five line-x installs over the years, three different companies and never an issue. I even gouged mine with a engine block that shifted off the "pallet" (dang deer anyway) and the local line-x crew fixed it right up for nothing.

Keep us posted as to the resolution.....

I would agree that normally they do a good job. I had it done on my 2010 and had no issues. I'm going to try and run up there around lunch. Hopefully make it through the car wash first. I know they're going to take a shop rag and rub on my paint. grr... maybe I should have someone else take it up there. I don't know if I could handle watching that.

What an exciting lunch hour.. Got to sit and watch line-x guy wipe overspray off my truck for 2 hours.... They used adhesive remover to get it off.

^ serves them right. They should NEVER had let that shotty work happen. We're talking $30-40K trucks, not some worthless item.
