Ecoboost exhaust.update Page 6

hey guys...
Well i've been researching exhausts systems for the ecoboost...doesnt seem to be many catbacks out there yet. MBRP makes one and so does magnaflow....

This guys has a magnaflow on his eco and i cant decide if i like it or not...Def not a v8 sound like my old 5.4
What do you guys think?

All things considered (its a V6!) I think its a nice little grumble... would like to hear it drive by though.

Update: I went to youtube and found several clips in motion. I actually like the sound better then the non-existant sound stock. If it has any performance or fuel mileage improvements that would be a huge bonus. I'm sure a lot of V8 die hards here will think the sound is a joke... what's next a coffe can exit pipe? lol. I really like that at cruising speed you don't seem to hear the aftermarket exhaust at all, much like stock.

It would have to add a significant amount of power for me to deal with that sound. I prefer my stealthy quiet EB.

Magnaflow has sound clips on their site for the EcoBoost.

At the end of the day it's going to sound like a V6, but the Magnaflow tends to have the least Honda-like noise. Plus they're made in three different configurations. I suspect the dual rear exit will have the deepest tone. See the links below.

wow! That is a very impressive sound for a V6!

A VAST improvement over my buddies old 96 V6 w/ glass packs... haha.. you could hear him coming for a ways... Especially when he mashed it & let off CRAKKA BLAKKA BLAKKA BLAKKA RRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH BLAKKA BLAKKA

HAHA! LMAO. Really though, magnaflow is my favorite. Had one on my Hemi Dodge & it was the best sounding truck I've ever had. Got one on the 5.4 now & it sounds ok but, nothing like that big hemi.

There's a thread on 38 hp gains from Heartthrob cat back exhaust with sound clips. At idle and reved, the turbo spool is loud like a Subaru WRX Sti
.

Your V6 won't gain 30+ hp with a cat back exhaust, so it would be pointless for you to do anyway.

I have owned 3 5.4L F-150s and put 250,000 miles on them. It is a good motor but the EB is better. It would take a ton of mods for a 5.4 to come close to an EB. Just look at this thread, have you ever seen an exhaust system claim to make +38 hp on a 5.4L? In all honesty the big three (tune, intake & exhaust) would barely make that much more power on that motor. Yet you would still be 27 hp down to a little stock V6.

I would line a stock EB truck against any lightly modded 5.4L and know the EB would mop the floor with the 5.4L. And the EB party is just getting started, it's gonna be a fun ride!
