Is it simply a valve stem or do you have to de mount the tires and install a band like sensor.
Im guessing you may have same as me but may want to check with dealer before buying any. Mine were part of the valve stem so just stuck in easily. I took my truck to the Ford dealer today, and they used a computer to re-train the wheels with the new sensor. Surprisingly this was done for free so before buying the computer, may want to try that as well.

Tire Pressure Sensor stays on

After reading a few threads, I think I may already have the answer but I also wanted to get a few your opinions on my situation. Last year I bought I 2008 F-150 XLT with a Heavy Duty payload package. The General Manager try to complete the sale agreed to put new wheels and tires on the truck to dress it up. It did not occur to them that the HD payload has 7-lug rims. They had a hard time fininding 7-lug rims and utimately had custom rims made by Centerline out in California. After 3 weeks they came in and I was pleased at the way they looked. The dearlership also agreed to put Michelin 265/70/16 tires that have a wider stance on. The combination looks awesome. A couple of weeks later the tire pressure sensor came on, I checked the pressure in all the tire and everything was good to go. So I waited until the next free oil change for them to look at it. They did and reset the computer which temporarily cleared the error (Until like other threads mentioned 20mile) the light came back on. I called and they werent sure what was going on. I did a little research and realized the HD stock tires are 50 to 60 psi and the new Michelins were 44max psi. I didnt want to bug them so I waited until the next service window and brought it up to them again and ask if they would contact Ford to see if there is a way to change the sensors or the computer, they said they did and there wasnt a way. But what I am reading here there are reset tools/procedures to change the sensor?? Or long term is it ok to be using the lower psi tires or should I switch them for a heavy duty tire. Any recommendations would be appreciated. FYI I have abandoned they Ford Dearler for another. Thanks!!!!

Not a good idea to have P series on a truck that can handle more that the tires can. The truck came with LR E tires for a reason. If you keep them, make sure you do not load your vehicle any were near max. Also you can not go by the weight number on the side of the tire. Whatever it is, subtract about 10%.
