Tire Pressor Sensor Trouble, Please Help?
Tire Pressor Sensor Trouble, Please Help?
I have a 2009 F150 Screw and recently one of my tire pressure sensors went bad. Once determining which tire sensor was bad, I have gotten it replaced but the computer is still reading tire pressure senssor fault. Does anyone know how to reset the computer once installing the new sensor or what needs to be done to make the computer to read the new sensor? Thanks for any help possible.
I just got all new sensors on my 2010. Now, I admit, I didn't have a "fault". I replaced mine due to getting new wheels with new sensors. However, there is a section in the book...on page 249 (I think) that tells you how to reset them. It has to do with turning on the key, pushing the emergency flasher button 3 times in ten seconds, then going to each wheel and letting some air out until the trucks horn beeps. Then go to the next one. I did this procedure to mine and it took five minutes and the new sensors programmed just fine. Perhaps if you haven't already tried, this will help.

If the vehicle has not been reset to the sensors, it may take a longer trip to get a fault. A trip of about 20 miles at highway speeds.
I have (had, as I am trading) the same issues. The TPMS would throw the signal/notification even though the pressure is good. Mine has been to the dealer at leadt 5 times for it and it's still not been resolved. It would typically come on after drive about 20 miles or so - sometimes it would shut off the notification on it's own, but other times it took a stop and restart.

Honestly, I would rather use the reset tool. A lot easier than having to take out air and then put it back. I do not know if the reset tool will still work with the '10 up.
I had this same issue after getting new tires installed. kept having issues where it would display a 'tpms fault' not a pressure error. but a read error. it would not happen all the time. it would only happen now and then. tire shop ( work paid for the tires so i took it to a guy he knows. and i also know the manager. ) they had a hard time thinking a tech hit one and didnt say anything as they have been dealing with these sensors for a while now.
long story short. i paid dealership to reset all sensors and relearn to truck. the truck still had factroy warranty and still has extended on it now.
tire shop eventually replaced all sensors at their cost. and that fixed the issue.
i do know the two codes that were stored, stated
communication failure.
between one and three sensors could be bad.
why didnt they build it in so sensors were individualy registered with the vehicle. its possible this has changed in future model years?
my truck is 09 plat.
a side note. i am running 45psi, they are a 10 ply good year. and that has been reset as well .
no problems for the past 7K

I have this TPMS warning on my 09 as well. It's been on ever since I upgraded to xd monster wheels. I sold my stock wheels not knowing I needed the sensors, so can I purchase some new sensors online and what is involved to installing them. Is it simply a valve stem or do you have to de mount the tires and install a band like sensor.
--- there is no tpms sensor in the spare tire.

you will need the sensors. make sure you get the correct frequency for your truck. i cant remember what mine were. they are valve stem mount where there is a box on the end of the valve stem ..you will neeed to dismount all tires to have them installed.
if you do a search on here. you will find some people try to put them in a pvc container and inflate to 37 er so psi. however with no movement the sensors will goto sleep and not communicate with truck. if it were me , i would just get it done right. these sensors while they can become a pain. they do serve a purpose.
unlike us not being able to shut off rsc and traction ctrl when off road.. or deep snow/mud..
have a good weekend.

I was probably the first or one of the first to try the pvc tubes with air pressure. Definitely does not work. Sensors know the difference between moving and stopped and put out different signals depending upon which it is. You will not have to totally break them down, just enough to get the new valve stem and sensor in place. With the older version (07-08), you would have had to totally remove the tire, attach the sensor, then remount the tire.
