my buddy had a 12pk of cokes blow up in his back seat while driving, he said it sounded like a bunch of bombs going off. Heat makes them expand like crazy.

Yup. I left a can of Pepsi in my truck one day at work. I came out and found it exploded. I wasn't laughing like you are though

I somehow had a can of Busch Light left over from the weekend in the back seat. Sure enough it rolled around the next day and exploded all over my work clothes and back seat. Not fun at all but I got a good laugh out of it later

Video ! Where are the videos ?? That even happens in supermarkets if the sun hits the bottles. It's from lack of understanding that heat increases pressure !

oh man that sucks. I'd just keep wiping it down every few days even if it seems clean.

I had this happen a few years back in my '04 - the best thing I found are the microfiber towels you can get in a bulk pack from Sams or Costco. First I wiped everything down with the towels and soapy water - used dawn in the water. Got the water nice and hot and sudsy. Wring the towels out until they are wet but not dripping. wipe everything down, don't worry about leaving water behind - you need to get the sugar out. then wipe three or four more times, using just clear hot water, until you see nothing on the towels. Then you keep a damp towel in the truck in a zip-lock bag so you can wipe up anything you find left over for about two weeks - it is a pain in the @$$ I know, but it worked for me. I did have to have the seats steam cleaned to get rid of the staining (you know that wonderful '04 seat fabric), but the microfiber towels really picked up the mess well (and now I have them for cleaning up all the time).

Same thing happened to me driving down the freeway only it was totally my fault. I was shaking a bottle of NO-Xplode (pre workout mix) and it exploded everywhere while driving 75 mph. Scared the hell out of me. I had to pull over and wipe down the windows so I can continue with the drive. LOL!!! I got home and read the bottle of NO-Xplode and it says clear as day "Do Not Shake, Stir".

Here is something to think about -

Date issued: 15 July 2011

Subject: Aerosol Can Storage

AEROSOL CAN STORAGE
The storage of products in aerosol cans presents unique fire/explosion challenges due to the possibility that the cans will rupture and rocket when they are exposed to intense heat.
Many do not realize that intense heat buildup inside a vehicle is just the right catalyst for this to occur.
Recently this exact scenario played out when a can of deodorant was left on the dashboard of a vehicle. The aerosol can exploded shattering the windshield and imbedding itself into the passenger seat.

HAD THE VEHICLE BEEN OCCUPIED SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH COULD HAVE RESULTED! NEVER STORE AEROSOLS OR OTHER PRESSURIZED CONTAINERS IN HOT LOCATIONS... ESPECIALLY VEHICLES!

The Can was imbedded into thepassenger seat... What if you had been sitting there?

I feel your pain. Haha, I had a bottle of sundrop fall out of the cupholder and I waited a minute before opening it, it spewed all over my steering wheel and actually got into the volume and channel changing buttons on the wheel. Luckily I had it fixed under warranty
