I'm sure that other people with 2009 models are plagued by a soft and inconsistant brake pedal feel when first applying the brakes. When double-pumping, the brakes grab significanly better. It has been like this since I drove it off the lot in 2009.

The brake booster rod is adjustable on those models. By slightly lengthening the rod, the issue was resolved for them. I was ecstatic to read that it was an easy fix. I just pulled my master cylinder off, but my rod is not adjustable.

Has anybody had this issue resolved for the 2009?

I brought the "problem" to the attention of my local, friendly FoMoCo service department along with a print-out of the thread regarding the non-sanctioned "fix".

However, the service manager agreed with me in that it's probably the fault of the pads that Ford used. I've -NEVER- seen so much brake dust and groving of the rotors as with these pads. They did offer to lube the slides, however, I declined.

As for the pads and rotors supposedly they're in spec' for wear ( though I disagree based upon my 40+years of experience ). As to pedal travel / pressure, I was told that they too were within spec'.

I'll probably be replacing the pads and turning the rotors ( if possible ) on my own. *SIGH*

I don't fault the dealership for not honoring the repair as part of the bumper-to-bumper warranty, because they're at the mercy of FoMoCo who will not re-imburse them.

I replaced my front pads about a year ago because of the horrible dusting. Pedal felt exactly the same before and after. With the brakes being inconsistant in how they bite (it's difficult to verbalize), it's not a pad issue.

I'm seriously considering installing a 2008 booster for the adjustability. The 2004-2008 guys have the same issue, but can fix it themselves easily.

While the manufacturers say they worked hard to make computerized throttle and brakes feel like the real thing I think that's where the problem is .I don't know if there's any cure.

 

I'm shopping for a 2004-2008 booster. It should be a direct swap and could prove to be a huge improvement in braking performance. Looks like I'll be the test rat for this mod in the near future.
