Chrome on the shifter-

Has anyone done anything with the chrome strip on the shifter? seems like the light is always shining on the shifter, giving me a good glare, unless I drive with my right hand always on the shifter...

I don't want to paint it black, then it would stick out... What I would really like to do is get a leather wrap of some kind... Any one know of one on the market? Or will I have to cut some leather myself?

Jerry

I don't know of anyone making leather wraps as of yet.. someone else might though. what about a strip of vinyl to cover just the chrome? maybe, maybe not... just throwing ideas out there

I don't want to do just a strip of anything... paint, wood, vinyl Chrome... I am thinking maybe a leather wrap, with a baseball style seam around the top. Color and stitching to match the leather over the gauges.

Option 2 - I have a neighbor that is a retired high school wood shop teacher... maybe he can fab me up some new wood handle covers. Real wood, oiled, not varnished would look good, feel good in hand, but would not match anything....

I so want to make a comment about a girlfriend and removing chrome from a trailer hitch right now... But I'll be good.

I like the idea of a custom wrap with baseball style stitching, any good upholstery or leather shop should be able to do that for you reasonably... (The wrap not the chrome removal of course.)

Not if it's coming from the windshield which is like 90% of the problem I have with mine.

I have my windows tinted and the top of the windshield also tinted. I haven't had problems with the glare. I would recommend tinting the top of the windshield before spending lots of $$ on custom vinyl, wood projects, etc.. You can get the windshield tinted as dark as you like for $30 (in my area). I think it will help you out a lot. Good Luck
