Not sure if I should believe it or not, but today I got this email...

Mr. Caffrey

Here’s the latest update on your truck.

In Transit Arrived at Intermediate Point (Canadian National Railways ) Flarock, MI Apr-05-2011, 07:23 ET

Thanks,

XXXXXXX(name removed) / Customer Service Manager
It's either VERY good news, or it's a really evil joke.
The Rep told me that once the truck is in transit, he would be contacting me daily....so if I get another update tomorrow, then I'll start believing it. For now I think I'll just be cautiously optimistic.

I forwarded a copy of that email to my dealership this morning, and got a call shortly there after telling me that they ran a detail this morning, and it shows that the truck is indeed on a train in Flatrock, MI.

So, maybe, just maybe, within a couple of weeks, and after all my fussing and cussing, I might be driving a new truck.

If I'm lucky the incentives will be as good or better when the truck gets here. I just checked the Ford site this morning, and it looks like for my zip the incentives are at $5k right now. I'll keep my finger crossed on that one.

It isn't just Ford that is having problems shipping cars. A friend of mine ordered a Grand Cherokee in early January and still hasn't gotten it. For the last two weeks it has been sitting in a rail yard a two hour drive away but he can't go pick it up. It seems the stories about the shipping companies might be true.

Hopefully you will get yours soon.

That sucks that you guys are getting strung along like this...

I ordered my black '11 ecoboost screw fx4 on 3/10, it was built on 3/21, arrived at the dealership on 3/24, and was in my driveway on 3/26. It doesn't hurt that the dealership is only an hour away from the factory, but I can imagine your frustration...I had a hard time waiting as long as I did for mine.

Ed.

My Customer's has started moving today too. It is at the Ramp. Nov 2nd order.

A for the "Hostaged" autos, held by Allied Systems. I wouldn't believe everything I read.

Allied asked for a 15% increase over the next (some say) 3 years, some say 5 years. Ford agreed, GM and Chrysler didn't.

GM and Chrysler had to scramble to find Haulling Companies to handle thier deliveries. Hense the delays.

Rail Roads own the "Ramps" so there is No Way for Allied to hold vehicle "Hostage" at the Ramps.

Personally, I am glad that Ford stuck with Allied. Even with an increase coming. Fuel prices are on the rise, and yes Frieght is high, but they do deliver vehicles without a scratch (most times)

Allied Systems, isn't Black Balling GM this week, They just Ain't Hauling GM's at all. This week or last week.

GM and Chrysler and Toyota, and other's, Didn't agree to thier (Allied's) terms for a raise. so GM, Chrysler, and others are scrambling to find New Haulers.

Ford atleast agreeded to thier terms. (who knows what will happen after the Feb 17-27th builds are shipped out?)

No, Something happened to a "Very Short Run," at Dearborn Plant, which was fixed ("By Ford") quickly. 2-4 days. The ball was dropped in shipping those units, after they were fixed.

The problem isn't as bad as anyone thinks, the way it was handled, well is worse than anyone could imagine!

They will still be "Well worth the wait"

Just a little "Inside scoop" Of what I know, which isn't much.

So do you think since my truck was built Feb 19th, it should be shipping soon now that some of those trucks seem to be on there way? Ford Customer Service is still saying they don't know and there's nothing they can do. It's still on ramp 59 as of today.

In Transit Arrived at Intermediate Point (Canadian National Railways ) Miljct, MI Apr-06-2011, 20:31 ET Apr-18-2011

Thanks,

XXXXXXX / Customer Service Manager

Spunkymonkey: Do what I did and just bug the daylights out of them. For about two weeks I was calling ever single day, as well as sending an email every single day. They kept replying to my emails saying "please allow two business days for a response", but I just kept sending an email and calling every day.
For whatever reason, when I reached the 10 week point, I told them that "I have been waiting for 10 weeks!" That seemed to trigger something....the next morning I got a message from the fella who is now sending me the daily email updates, telling me that my "case" had been elevated, that it had been assigned a case number, and that he would be contacting me weekly until the truck moved, and then daily once it started to move. That was last Friday, and lo and behold, my truck was loaded onto a train on Tuesday of this week.....imagine that!

I don't know if it was coincidence that the truck started moving so quickly after the case got "elevated", but that doesn't seem likely.
With the ETA listed in the latest email, it will be 3 months to the day from the date I ordered.

The more "You complain to your Dealer" I hope the better off you will be.

We as "Dealers" have no control. Over stuff like this. But we do have phone numbers.

I have learn't that "Ford" hates to talk to "Customers" or "End Users". They want "Dealers" to do that.

Complain to your Dealer. (Even though it is not thier fault.) Complain often, even though, you know it is not thier fault. A good Dealer, would jump on that and, while backing you on your quest.

While, I honestly ("Learned that in 1993, while selling GM's") They handle the "Customer" the same way.

I still have 4 trucks, locked in "ReRelease" state @ Dearborn Plant. The most important one, tagged "Sold" is moving, as of today.

I need to clarify something about what I said in post #101.....When I said to "bug the daylights out of them", I was referring to Ford Customer Care.
With respect to Doh, the dealer was as much in the dark as I was, and I just felt it was wrong for me to be angry with them, when FoMoCo was the culprit. Call it a personality quirk, but it would be like somebody else fighting MY battle. (a career in the military will do that to ya! )

I have a vested interest in our local dealership....my Mrs. works there, so I didn't want to see any backlash from my actions on the dealership. When my case was elevated, I specifically asked the gentleman if any of my complaints would reflect on the dealership. His response was "No."
