Warranty cover wheels?

Washed my truck today and found the aluminum pitting. Bought the truck 7 months ago I paid too much for this lack of quality. It is worse on the front two wheels the rears show a little. Will Ford cover the wheels on warranty or am I stuck with some bogus wheels?

I would think they'd be covered under warranty. It's not a normal wear and tear or abuse thing, its shoddy workmanship. If your dealer wants to do right by you, they'll fix it. Best way is to ask. Had my truck for 4 years and don't have that goin on.

There is another post here about the same type of pitting on 20" wheels. They all got warranty no questions asked. Are yours 20" also, or are we having this problem with other sizes now too?

Warranty will cover it, was set to have mine replaced on my 09, but then just ordered a 2011 instead. HOpefully the new FX4 20's don't end up with similar issues.

According to my service guys, and lead tech, this is a very common problem for ford wheels. And they said it will most likely happen again to the new ones. But I was going to try and keep them waxed and clean as often as possible to hopefully stop it from re-occuring. Not sure if that would've helped though...

I started the thread that IDieselman is referring to. My truck was less than 6 months old when I noticed. Dealer replaced all four last week under warranty. Just curious, are you in a snowy area? Dealer said that he thought that the new de-icers that the DOT is putting down caused it. If you're from the South, blows that theory out of the water. Hopefully my new ones will survive future winters.

Yep Im in Cleveland Ohio Im gonna take it in and talk to the dealer see what they say. If they will replace them again if it happens again? If thats the case I'll just get a new set every spring so they will always be nice for the summer.

Good deal; I'm in Hudson. Apparently the road guys are putting a new de-ier that is extremely corrosive down. I noticed that it is eating my license tag as well; already after one winter. Where did you buy your truck? I can tell you that I bought mine from Liberty Ford in Solon and had no issues what so ever getting the wheels warrantied. Good luck; hopefully the new wheels will be a little better.

Just an update I took the truck to the dealer and they took pics of the wheels, submitted to Ford and ordered me a new set of wheels. As long as I have bumper to bumper Im covered.
